Score from 954 reviews Very good
The location is superb. There are some lovely restaurants in the "back yard" of the hotel and the old town is just around the corner.
Although we had announced our arrival time the room was not cleaned after previous visitors when we arrived. We had to call the hotel and request them to clean it. The church bells started ringing at 7:30 Sunday morning and kept on for quite a while. Good reason to get up... You will also hear the noise from the street during the late eve/ night but this balance the excellent location of the hotel. I would stay there again for the location.
Location is great
No Wifi, some rooms internet with cable. stairs, no elevator
Central location in old town. Easy to get breakfast in nearby cafés and hotels
Plenty of space Comfortable beds Rooms very clean
Needed extra pillows Would have liked a kettle to make tea/coffee
Really nice stay close to the river and the Dom. Loads to see in the koln and it was a really pleasant stay. Just be aware that if you miss check in to get in the room you need a code to put into a box outside and it drops your key out! We were a bit worries when we turned up to a locked building! Otherwise brilliant.
Not bad for an apartment house. The bed is comfortable, the bathroom is fully equipped. Good location at the city center, within walking distance from the Dom and the train station.
We almost lost our reservation because we arrived on Sunday and there was no one to give us our keys, just an electronic box, for which we had to insert a password (that we never received after several attempts to contact them). They listed an "emergency phone number" which we dialed, and it turned out that the person had no idea why his phone number was listed as "emergency number" and did not even know the place. Moreover, they had a kitchen which they had locked down; I am not sure if we had to pay more to gain access to it but it definitely would have been helpful for us.
Noise, beds, pillows, shower.
The hotel was well located, clean and as described on the website. For this reason there can be no issues as what you see is what you get.
The guesthouse has a very central location, it's pretty close to Dom, the Rhine river and the central squares of Heumarkt and Alter Markt. The rooms are nice, clean and they get cleaned & tidied up everyday. Beds are comfortable. There was a TV that works in our room. Towels were included which is nice. Overall the place feels just nice, clean and comfortable.
Staff not available on weekend, but that was OK since we didn't really need anything after checking in. Only toilet was in the common bathroom which makes it not possible to use it if somebody is taking a shower. Wi-fi would be nice.
No wifi ,no elevator.
Very clean, perfect location, friendly staff, great value, nice room
My only complaint is that there was no WiFi in the rooms.
Light, airy, spacious rooms in a lovely part of town. My brother paid the same price as us (we got a double room with a shared bathroom) and got a penthouse apartment with it's own bathroom and kitchenette. Don't know how that happened - but ask for that room if you can get it :)
Didn't realise the room had a shared bathroom when I booked (this may have been my fault but I don't remember it being made very obvious or clear) and the rooms are very noisy to lock - I think I would have disturbed my fellow travellers getting up in the middle of the night to go to the toilet.
In the heart of the Old Town and in walking distance from the station, GIR KELLER is also suitable for visiting Duesseldorf (exhibition)
In a lovely location, nice bright clean rooms.
No wifi. Not staffed for long enough during the day.
everything but the stairs!
there was no elevator and a lot of stairs. pulling my suitcase up the stairs was not fun.
nice reception, very clean and tidy
bit noisy but there was a wine festival next door and we actually enjoyed being up late
The location is great
The pillows are not very good and the building is noisy.
Good location - but near bars so on weekends it can get noisy, big room, no problems getting the key from the key box
The staff are not available on weekends at all - even on the emergency phone number they leave. The staff are rude. Our TV didn't work - bit annoying as this is the only feature advertised (internet only available if you have a lead to connect it). I contacted them on the weekend number left by the staff - no reply. It then took two emails over the next week (once we were home) to get a response from them. They just said the TV worked and we should have pressed the 'on' switch - we found this a little insulting! We do know how to turn a TV on! We even tried moving the plug to different plug sockets. The staff would not admit the tv didn't work and became quite rude over emails.
The hotel is located in a very good area. You can reach everything in less than 15 min.
A very nice, bright, clean room. Excellent location. Would stay there again and recommend it.
The place is very good.
The hotel was located near Alter Markt. All tourist destinations and places were near. Room was large, clean and even had an extra single bed.
Nothing really. There was no reception desk in the weekend, which might make it slightly more difficult to come in contact with personel.
Close to restaurants. Large rooms. Comfy beds. Clean
Very loud at night with people leaving the bars.
Great location in the Alstadt between Koln Cathedral and the promenade along the Rhine. Very clean room / bath.
Before purchasing, check which room you will be assigned. There is no lift and it was 78 steps to our room #41 (good practice for climbing the Cathedral spire, though)!
