Excellent hotel. Very friendly and helpful staff. Extremely comfortable room (upgraded to a suite) and a quiet location despite being close to the main square. Excellent buffet breakfast. Situated in the Old Town with all places of interest within walking distance and good restaurants and bars nearby. Secure onsite parking - with someone else to park the car. Highly recommended.

The location in the old centre of Heidelberg was very good. The breakfast was lovely and the staff were friendly and helpful. Parking, although very limited, was very secure of you are lucky enough to get a place! The room was very small and there were no coffee or tea making facilities. The decoration was very dated and, for the price, this hotel was not good value for money.

On a scale of one to ten, we'd give this one an eight. The staff spoke very good English and the room, though small, was very clean. The location was fantastic to all things in the area. Breakfast was another big bonus! Assorted cheeses, fruits, meats, breads and more. My husband did not like the parking situation. To arrive at the hotel, you must pull into an alleyway and stop in front of the reception office. The attendant then parks your car for you in their small, cramped garage where cars are no less than six inches apart. Hubby did not enjoy seeing someone else drive his BMW and park it, but it was fine. Our room (40) had very thin curtains. The marquee sat right outside our window and shone very bright all night. It kept our room bright as day all night long, making it very difficult to sleep. The room also got very warm at night, and keeping the window open allowed us to hear everything in the alley. (Not a very quiet night).

The location was excellent. I can drop off my shopping bags and head back to shopping again. Easy access via public transport and it is easy to locate. The walk to the philosophy bridge and old town was also within distant. Love the comfortable bedsheets. Hotel staff were all very friendly and approachable. The lady readily offered to keep my luggages when I arrived very early and gave me very clear directions to check out the town. By the time I returned, the bags were already in my room. I like the flexibility with the option to pay cash on the spot or they will just charge to my credit card. The bathroom seems a little cold with the dispensers shower gel and soap. Would have added more personal touch if they offer bottled toiletries or have prettier soap dispensers in the bathroom.

1. Spacious 2. Helpful staff (Especially A- Bi. ----Sorry if I spelled wrong) 3. Elevator at our building. (Room 18) We stayed at room 18, which is on the 3rd floor, a standard double room. The room is quite spacious, with sofa, coffee maker, table, and bathroom with bath-tube. The location is between the old town and the Bismark- plaza. If you are going to the train station or taking public transportation often, this is a good location for you. If you don't have much time to spend shopping on the main street, this location is a little too far from the main sight seeing points. The free wifi is super- fast and stable. We like that. The breakfast is quite good, and the lady in the dining room is nice to us. Penny's markt is a good place to go for buying bottle water, which is very near from the hotel. In the same block of the hotel, on the street "Plock," the is a store selling suitcases, carrying Rimowa. We got a good price there. (The way they stock suitcases make some scratches, so make your own judge on the price and quality.) One Turkey young man in the store is quite helpful, although his English interrupts the communication. The communication inside the hotel is not very smooth. We sent our clothes to wash in our own suitcase, but the suitcase didn't come back with the washed clothes. We had to ask the front desk staff two times on different days about this to have the suitcase back.

We had 2 nights here in Heidelberg and the Goldene Rose suited our needs perfectly. We were travelling by car on our way back from Bavaria after visiting friends, so we had pre booked car parking which is available on site. We had a lovely comfort suite room, very large with a huge bathroom, it was excellent. There was a good choice at breakfast and I would most certainly stay there again, Heidelberg is a lovely town to visit. Parking - its tight. Despite being in our V70, admittedly not the smallest car in the world, coupled with it's notoriously bad steering lock, parking was an issue. It's not helped by the fact that even though the car park (which holds around 7 cars max, double parked and blocking others in), is 'decorated' with planters and water features and 'ornate' stonework which just reduces turning space even further.
