The location is excellent, the staff was helpful in suggesting a suitable garage for our 9-passenger van, how to get to the castle, and where to park while loading the van. The breakfast was also very good and not too expensive in comparison to other hotels.
the location - right by the old bridge we asked for a quiet room and had a room on the courtyard with a little balcony, and a fridge.
nothing. it was lovely!
The location is excellent if one wants to be in the centre of Heidleberg. The reception staff are very helpful. The rooms are comfortable &old fashioned.
The crowds of tourists. If we went again( not likely) we would stay outside of the city and come as a day tripper. There is no lift and a lot of steep stairs. There is a charge for wifi which is not a lot but nonetheless one expects wifi to be free nowadays. We went out for breakfast as 11 euros per head is expensive.
I liked everything about the hotel: the location, the view, the rooms, the staff, the food...
Good (Great) Location, nice breakfast, nice friendly staff. Rooms good.
Location is in the restricted traffic area. this makes it a bit difficult to drop luggage during rush hour. Also parking is very remote but it is not expensive. WiFi is available but not all that good. No elevator.
We were lucky enough to stay in a beautiful light filled room no. 22 which overlooks the Altebrucke & the river. The hotel could not be more centrally located in the Altstadt with easy access to sights, bars & restaurants. There could not be a more convenient place to stay.
We loved the location, honestly I couldn't ask for a better spot! The staff were welcoming, relaxed and "real".Thanks!!!!!
I would have loved some chocolate to go with the beer and wine n the fridge. I think it was midnight and I resorted to eating sugar cubes :)
Position is fantastic by the river and near all of the sites. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. We had a room with a view of the bridge and river which was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was good with a good choice of breads, meats, cheeses etc which is typical of German hotels. Will come again some day.
There was some noise from the road and the late night drinkers, but don't choose a town centre hotel if this is a problem. The breakfast room is small so we had ours in our room which we didn't mind.
This was a very simple and old-fashioned hotel. The perfect location and price ($70/night for one person) cannot be beaten. It was great to see the view of the Old Bridge right from my window. Noise was only an issue if I kept the windows open at night on a weekend. I stayed on the top floor and had the Mark Twain room. Checkin was quick and simple. My luggage was small so I didn’t have any trouble bringing it up the stairs. In a good way- It felt like I was living in the past with all of the old fashioned décor. The stay was a rich experience and a nice change from all of the modern hotels.
A friend joined me the last few days and I was charged an impressive additional 30 Euro per night. I’m used to paying 10 – 20 Euros at most places. I understand the price needed to go up to cover the 2nd person’s water and electricity usage but 30 euros per night was a bit much. That's almost half the cost of the standalone room rate. Wi-fi was terrible on the top floor. I sometimes had to go down a flight of stairs to get the Wi-Fi to work. Room needed a good dusting. The lamps for example looked like they haven’t been dusted in weeks. When I checked in a lady with glasses never smiled once but she was still nice. It made the checkin experience a little bit awkward since she always looked upset. After a couple days I realized all the other receptionists were extremely friendly so it was just that one person. All of these are just small things, but I would still highly recommend this hotel.
The great location near the old city center, nice room made in retro, good bed, not high price
bell in the next church calls every hour, even at night
We asked specifically to stay in room 12. We had the best possible view from our Windows looking right out over the old bridge, and immediately in front of the gate. It was amazing! Boat tours pick up afloat right in front of the hotel. Castle easy to get to walking about 7 min through the market, then can take a gondola to the top. Very easy. Reception very pleasant and helpful. Better experience than expected!
Shower not very confortable
Location is excellent, right by the Old Bridge. Staff was friendly. Room and bathroom adequate although a little small. The building seems very quaint and historic. Nice restaurant below.
The noise at night from the street below, although it helped when they gave us a fan to put in the window. Parking was several blocks away and not included. It was quite warm the first night, and like all German hotels, there was no A/C. Also no internet.
My room view overlooking the old bridge (alte brucke).
Being charged for breakfast that I had verbally cancelled.
Location and friendly staff
Noisy on Saturday night until about 1am as my room overlooked the bridge.
The location and restaurant.
The hotel is overpriced due to its location which is excellent, in the heart of everything. However, the place needs a makeover and the rooms are small. Having no lift and the check in desk being on the second floor does not help you with your initial experience
Location!!! My room had a view on the old bridge and Heidelberg monkey :) Room itself was nice and clean, no complaints.
Wi-Fi is not free
Loved the location! It was charming and beautiful and next to the river and within walking distance to the tram which takes you to the castle. The room was comfortable and spacious.
We hadn't included breakfast with our room, so we had to wait to eat.
Was a nice clean hotel in the old town close to everything.
They had a huge festival with a loud band just outside our room. Impossible to sleep or even have a conversation in the room. Only stayed one night and went to a quieter location in the town...feel we should have been warned when booking!!!
Very central for all the old town sights. Nice clean comfy room. Very friendly staff. Dog friendly. Excellent double glazing to keep out in town noise.
Lack of parking.
Great position with fabulous views of the bridge and river. Large rooms and comfortable beds.
No lift so you have to lug bags up 2-3 floors. Breakfast was expensive and served in a pokey, disjointed room and cannot seat parties of more than 4 on a table or more than 10-12 people at any one time. For that reason you have to book a time to eat which is not what you want on a holiday. The catch then is that you cannot eat breakfast anywhere else in the town before 10am so be warned.
The location for the town centre is excellent, very close to bars and restaurants. Breakfast was very good.
The streets outside are busy and noisy, plenty of atmosphere but don't expect a quiet stay.
fantastic location, good food and they fitted us in without a reservation.
slightly noisy, but then there was a world cup football match!
Very noisy outdoor. Bring earplugs. Bad pillows
