Loved this hostel and you can see why it's received so many awards! Staff are exceptionally friendly, the hostel is clean and many facilities. I particularly enjoyed the bar area which was an old library set up with bookshelves, old vintage chairs and lamps.
The showers are only covered by a small curtain so privacy is difficult to obtain
Especially very friendly staff, great breakfast and great breakfast place, great old building with good modern look inside, good atmosphere, and quiet mostly after 22.00 hrs. Good for a family, young or old.
No place to hang your clothes when having a shower, space a bit mean
Rooms facilities, silence, staff, wifi, happy hour, cocktails. I'll def be back :D
localization is not the best ones. You have to walk +10 mins to find a restaurant or a bar. But it is close to a U-bahn station tho (:
the staff are helpful.
Nice beds, friendly staff, good location, affordable
The stay was great, we had a double room, so that was definitely a plus compared I the dorms (can't say anything regarding those) Staff was really nice, location was great and the bar made up a perfect location for making new friends and getting a fee cold ones for cheap
Minor things honestly: I didn't like only the fact that the wifi connection was resetig every 3 hours or so, so you need to reconnect every single time The bike rental was two euros more expensive than in other locations
Very nice house. Good breakfast. Nice staff.
Only one toilett. No toilett paper.. Beds beside each other instead of on top of.
Very nice staff. Excellent bar. Perfect breakfasts for just 2.60 eur. They also offer attractive activities.
I have never managed to unlock a door from the first time. With every door I used at least two trials. I have never before noticed myself being awkward to such an extent ...
That it has that old cultural feel
It's a perfect youth hostel in Berlin, near to the cheap food area, and to the city central as well. There are big wardrobes, which can be closed with your own locker. Beds are super-comfortable. There is a bar at the reception, where the atmoshpere is awesome, and the stuff is great!
A bit noisy, if you are not used to the traffic noise (tram, autos), prepare yourself with an ear-plug.
staff,loby was perfect.thanks.
i d like to have bathroom in the dorm....it was little be far away but its ok...
The staff, facilities and location are amazing. Very friendly and knowledgeable. I highly recommend staying here if you have the chance.
The Grand Hostel is conveniently located in a great area close to delicious cheap eats and public transport. The beautiful oldschool building with friendly and helpful staff (even greeted us with free beer whilst getting an intro to Berlin and the map) made us feel at home for our weeks stay.
nothing to complain about.
Kind regards to: (Mira) My Bulgarian friend (Elaneor) Friend in Restaurant Daniel Gym - Host Christian Plus other lovely staff ladies whose names I didn't know Home safely . Thanks for making time so pleasant and for organising other feature events Elanore
Carying my heavy backpack up the stair but I accept that was my choice
Staff are nice/near U-tram station
No lift and kitchen
Everything about this hostel was perfect.
Grand Hostel Berlin is the best hostel I stayed in!
Great value, clean and comfortable.
Reception gets really busy at 11am, which is normal, but sometimes there aren't enough staff around to deal with the questions promptly.
Friendly staff, nice rooms, close to public transit.
Having only one computer to use in the reception area. Sometimes you'll have to wait in line!
Everything was great. Would definitely stay there again Happy hour was great and they greet you on arrival with a free drink.
Very friendly staff, tell you all about the area as soon as you arrive, along with a coffee! Christian was awesome and suggested the BEST place for pork knuckle and beer!
Could hear people up and down hallway very clearly quite early each morning
The team is kind and it has a good location (there's a metro station really close and you are at a few metro stops from Potsdamer platz); the breakfast is an "extra" that is really worth it! Wi-fi is ok and there's a small pub inside the hostel that you can have some drinks if you don't want to go out.
I had a heavy luggage and there is no elevator. But it's not a big problem. I'd stay there again if I go back to Berlin!
Bed was comfortable, breakfast (paid separatly) was really good, U Station (subway) close by, helpful staff. I had a good time there.
WiFi login and password keep on being requested every time you need to login. Not only that, it's a really complicated combination of numbers and letters and my iPhone was not being able to keep the login/pass saved. To make it worse the staff changes the password every once in a while so it makes a little bit more annoying for you to log in. The pin pad they have on the bedroom doors are really something. Instead of keycards to unlock the doors you need to enter these 7 digit codes that not only for many times the pin pad does not recognize - and so you have to stay there pressing the same code on and on until it recognizes it - but also the staff randomly changes your code, so then you're trying to enter your bedroom to find out that your code was changed and you didn't know.
Not far from u-bahn, potzdamm platz; friendly staff, clean room
The biggest disappointment is absence of the kitchen, no refrigerators, no cooker. To make a cup of tea you have to ask for hot water every time. Too noisy if your windows facing the street
