Known as the "Jewel Box", Dresden is a stunning German city with rich history, an important classical music scene, and an unforgettable Baroque and Rococo-inspired city center.
Located on the banks of the Elbe River, the whole city was destroyed during World War II, but has now been rebuilt into one of the most interesting places in Europe. Like a phoenix from the ashes, the Church of Our Lady (Frauenkirche) is an imposing building that is one of the most beloved symbols of the city.
Magnificent Zwinger Palace is the main Dresden attraction, featuring impressive pavilions and a majestic garden in the middle. Continue your journey along the cultural centre of Germany and visit the picturesque Baroque square of Neumarkt. Dresden has obviously much to offer in terms of history, with its many museums or locations that have something to tell about it. Like the Semper Oper, which offers guided tours - also for kids (I would recommend for families); Zwinger with its science exebition; beautiful rebuild Frauenkirche with its catacombs etc.
But also "die Neustadt" with many culinary restos, the art district, the Elbufer - especially in summer. As well as the many hiking trails, Bastei Bridge, many castles like Moritzburg or Königstein Fortress (take at least 5h for that. it also hold a museum)
There were many more things to see, which we could not cover. So, a good reason to go back soon.

Although I have travelled to other parts of Germany, I had never seen Dresden. It is a remarkable city! I parked at the underground garage at the Frauenkirche, which was centrally located to many of the points of interest. I visited the Fuerstenzug, which is the Procession of Princes, created on tiles. So impressive! I toured the Palace. Make sure you get the complete ticket that takes you through the Green Vault. Amazing jewelry and priceless artifacts. Walking around, it's architectural overload! Also, don't miss going into Camondas Chocolate Store!

You can never get enough of Dresden.
You can never get enough of Dresden. No matter what is the reason of your visit - there is always something that will make you return. For the obvious - Old Town, Frauenkirche, Zwinger, SemperOper…. but crossing the bridge you can explore totally different town. Try to check Pfunds Molkerei to taste local cheese… Or take a ride on the steamboat - either to visit Meissen or Pilnitz castle… and so much more.

In Albertinum museum at entry doors there were no signs where to head to get to the tickets purchasing area, and there was one guy keeping eye on everybody entering the museum giving directions where to go, unfortunately I already climbed leading to him stairs and my fall was long, painful, and bloody. I am sure I was not the first and most likely not the last one keeping close contact with Albertinum floor. Placing just sign explaining the direction would prevent serious injury to other art lovers.

The city centre is gorgeous.
The city centre is gorgeous. At Christmas time, the city is especially beautiful; there are lots of nice Christmas markets around (Striezelmarkt and Neumarkt are the oldest and most famous) that provide local handmade gifts and souvenirs. Don't miss the "Dresdner Stollen," their outstanding traditional Christmas dessert!
The Old Masters Gallery is definitely worth visiting.

Excellent city and architectures.
Excellent city and architectures. We loved it very much. car parking in the city center parkings are too costly but you get Contipark Tiefgarage Semperoper in Dresden charges only 6euros per day just few meters extra walking.
This is so far the best hotel we have stayed in Dresden. Nice to treat yourself for a special event. If you’re lucky or have some extra budget - get the room with the view of Frauenkirche and the square. It is good spot to just seat and do some people-watching. For cold and rainy days there is sauna on the upper floor… as well as fancy Moritz restaurant. Perfect location for Old Town sightseeing or Opera visit. Very comfortable beds and pillows… and pleasant quiet so you can relax.
Very nice hotel, professional appearance. Rooms are fairly spacious, aircon works fine. There's enough parking space - at a costs, 10 euros per 24 hour. Breakfast is nice, lots of choice and clean area. Location is not close to the old town, but across the hotel is a busstop to get you there. It is conveniently located to visit Dresden center and Bastei.
we enjoy staying in this hotel. Usually we are arriving to Dresden late evening and 24h front desk is important for us. Safety parking is a very good option also. Spacious rooms are comfortable, but ask for the room with Frauenkirchen view. Location is brilliant, as hotel located in the old city, with a lot of places for elegant breakfirst.
It was super clean, the beds were very comfortable.
Very spacious, terrace included, windows everywhere with adorable flowers. Cheap parking, calm, charming area and altogether an amazing stay. One of the best we have visited. Super good value for money, especially in Germany where everything is usually too expensive, this was PERFECT!
The breakfast has many choices.
The service personal at the breakfast was very attentive. We were asked, if we wanted mashine coffee or filtered coffee. I enjoyed filtered coffee, which was very good.
The room was very clean and big enough.
tramstop near the hotel entrance. only 1 stop to the Dresden main square with sightseeing.
It’s got all the comforts of home. I sent a message for information before we arrived and received it the next day. Right off the tram lines so easy to get to the shopping of Dresden. The property is always clean and breakfast is premium. We come to Dresden often and always stay at this fine Hotel.
Quiet location near a forest park, very convenient for travelers with dogs. Clean comfortable rooms, good variety breakfast. Free parking behind a ramp. Conveniently located close to the highway. This was our second stay in the hotel while traveling through Dresden and I would stay again.
An awesome hotel. Right beside the heart of the Dresden Altstadt so everything is in walking distance. The room is exceptional, and bed is comfortable. Free soft drinks and water in the room fridge everyday. The value of this hotel is higher than its price.
Moxy is located in the Neustadt area of Dresden where you’ll find lots of cool bars and restaurants. To visit the old town, it’s only a 15 min walk or short tram or train ride. It’s a brand new hotel, thoughtfully decorated and has spacious rooms.
Very nice helpful staff (they tried hard to speak in English). The hotel had a small storage room for our bikes. The breakfast is fantastic. The rooms were comfortable and clean. The restaurant has a really nice view of Dresden.
The hotel is located near the Neustadt in Dresden. In 10 min walking distance you'll find plenty of restaurants and bars in this wonderful district. If you arrive by car you'll find parking spots on the street wich are for free
Excellent breakfast. Nice quite large room facing the inner square. Good room service with a couple of small problems:. Hotel is in the middle of Dresden old town - couldn't be more centrally placed! Friendly staff.
The beds are very comfy and the breakfast is just great! The room itself was cozy and clean with some style gimmicks.
The hotel is located just a few minute walk from the Zwinger and the old town of Dresden.
The location is excellent - close to the railway station Dresden-Neustadt.
The Hotel is very modern, with a nice decoration and good rooms. Very clean and with EXCELLENT breakfast!
Easy access to all the places we wanted to walk or take the bus to. Secure parking and a nice breakfast included. This is the hotel we normally stay at when visiting Dresden.
Breakfast was fantastic and the organisation of food distribution was perfect. Hotel location is the best in Dresden as well for tourist as well for business.
