Excellent, friendly and helpful staff!
The rooms are in an old building so they are full of charm and big! With high ceilings too! The Staff is fantastic and very helpful. There are no mini fridges, but there is a refrigerator in the lobby with all sorts of drinks including beer! Everything is 2 euro and very convenient. We enjoyed our room very much. We would stay here again :)
The bathroom is small but new, and there are no grocery stores nearby. The beds are two singles pushed together, so you fall in the crack sometimes? Nothing to complain about.
Close to Subway, very close to Congress Center
Wifi Not working at the room, found a lot of woman hairs at shower and bed. carpet also pretty dirty. Breakfast to expensive
A well-situated hotel with spacious rooms and friendly staff.
It was difficult to find a parking space near to the hotel
Freindly and helpful staff. Location Nice individual designed and clean rooms Good breakfast.
Parking can be a little difficult
Location (close to S-Bahn and several U-Bahn stations), quietness, extremely comfortable bed and pillows, helpful staff, delicious and high quality food for breakfast
WiFi signal was unstable in a corner where my room was located
nice rooms, good breakfast, quiet relaxing atmosphere
It would be nice to have a kettle in the room to make coffee/tea.
close to the S-bahn
no kettle nor water
Very large and clean hotel room. Comfortable bed and great WiFi. Right next to the University of Hamburg. A bus stop and a S-bahn stop are short walks (5 min) from the hotel making it easy to get downtown. Alster Lake is also a short walk (10 min) from the hotel.
Everything ok except the reception man.
Reception Man. Ignores the women and those who are not german. Maybe he would be perfect for a gay hotel. Unpolite with my wife.
My room was beautiful! Old style, unique, and huge for a European hotel. I loved it.
The wi-fi was spotty.
great location - both central and quiet, easy to reach by public transport and walking distance to city center very clean and really nice building
This was a unique stay will very large rooms. I enjoyed the location and people. Thank you for a wonderful time.
I wish the breakfast had been included in the price and not extra. Also, the outside of the building needs some TLC and landscaping. I know it is probably expensive but the building is lovely and should be kept up.
Location was great And the staff so helpful and friendly. Classic grand room and furnishings. Neighbourhood is university area. Parking available for 10E. Very secure.
Room was very big Hotel with nice old fashion style Very calm Nice breakfast Good location close to Congress Center I could have access to the room at noon before it was ready
Not much to critisize, only: Wi-Fi was very slow
Got a free upgrade to a double room after email inquiry asking about complaints from others that single rooms are extremely tiny. But this hardly helped.
I wrote hotel in advance asking about multiple negative comments in the reviews regarding WiFi / WLAN problems and noise. I was assured I would get a quiet room with good WLAN connection and even an upgrade to a double room. WLAN is mostly poor with frequent drops and it is a known problem. The person who checked me in, Herr Schreib, asked incredulously, what are we supposed to do, rewire the hotel? I said, yes. Good WLAN is what many hotels offer. He was quite rude. Hotel is rundown as is the lift / elevator and from what I saw, the windows are mostly single pane and allow in lots of noise. Same with the doors--hallway noise and neighbors are very audible. Curtains: not light blocking. More like netting, allowing in almost full light. Herr Schreib as well as other employees smoke right at main entrance to hotel while the door is fully opened. The smoke goes right into the hotel stairwell and up. The hotel therefore often smells of smoke. They do have smoking rooms, apparently. Employees should not add to the problem or at least should be instructed to close the outside door while standing right in the main entrance. There is no phone in the room. Parking is not free as implied by the booking.com description. If you happen to find an available PUBLIC spot near the hotel, it is free. Otherwise hotel charges EUR 10/night. The worst problem for me was the frequent internet dropping. They need to put more hotspots in and yes it will cost them a few hundred euros. There are enough complaints to warrant such investment and the problem would have been for me a showstopper if they had been honest in advance when I said I needed a good WLAN connection.
The room, location, staff and inside the hotel.
Outside of the building looks a bit untidy
Great location near the station. Room was a nice size. Staff very friendly and helpful.
Rooms are a little noisy. Was in the ground floor and could hear the lift and people walking up the stairs in the mornings. Internet was a bit up and down.
Breakfast was perfect. Great atmosphere.
Very convenient for everything, very helpful staff
Wifi intermittant at best, no english tv stations not even CNN or BBC news
Well located for congress center access
Room just acceptable but expensive with regard to what you get
Excellent location. Beautiful rooms, splendid breakfast and very good value.
Key access on late arrival did not work well for us, but hotel back up instructions at sister hotel nearby provided us with late access to our room.
Location is great, right next to train station and the university with lots of bars and cafes nearby. Rooms are nicely furnished and modern so dont be put off by how the building looks from the outside.
Clean and bright room, very good internet connection. Very good location towards S-linien. Overall very good impression and value for money.
Walls colored with black. Not exactly my style and not what I saw on the picture. Still, for sleeping a night it did not hamper too much. Beware of arrival after 10pm. Even though I warned about late arrival via Booking in due time, the concierge has left the building by the time I was at hotel (22:07) and I had to call him on mobile.
