Hotel Altberlin am Potsdamer Platz    

The hotel has an old-time atmosphere that takes it apart from the usual standardized business or tourist hotel. It is conveniently located in front of a bus stop, two blocks from a metro station and 10' walk to the Potsdamer Platz area (packed with restaurants and entertainment places). Rooms are clean, breakfast is good (with real espresso and cappuccino, although in Berlin!), staff is helpful and WiFi is free (and works well). The price/performance ratio is very good.

Rooms are a bit small (e.g. scarce space around the bed).

Excellent traditional style hotel with really great restaurant with authentic atmosphere, food and a hearty welcome, rather than a plastic designer type hotel. 10 minutes walk to Potsdamer Platz.

Quiet atmosphere and lovely areas downstairs for breakfast/dining with fresh tulips on the table. We were there on Easter Monday and were treated to painted eggs and chocolate rabbits. The breakfast fruit salad was first class (a sure sign of the general standard of food in a hotel).

Very little to dislike but our bathroom smelt a little musty and the shower basin was more or less blocked

Hotel staff was not pleasant, whether at the front desk or restaurant. Dont eat the popcorn

Proximity to many of Berlin's points of interest. Good breakfast included in tariff. Close to public transport. Inner courtyard rooms away from main street traffic noise were quiet.

Very small bathrooms which need updating. Towels and pillows in room inadequate; as was the lighting.

The staff were helpful and informative. The breakfast was excellent. The rooms large and clean. The location good. A great value for money accommodation.

I liked the location and the room was excellent value with a balcony soundproofing and plenty of different affordable places to eat or just have cooffee.. It is an old building and has much to look inside from a early german history point of view.It has very good security to get in and out of the building.

I brought my phrase book with me and have a smattering of German but iI would like to see one newspaper written in English,one Tv station that has english speaking movies or sub text. I n saying this I mean I felt a little confused because of the language barrier with staff that I feel it would be a good recommendation. After all I stayed here for 11nights.

location excellent, room suitable, breakfast excellent, restaurant food freshly cooked Berlin based recipes. good value. Atmosphere and ambience very homely and relaxing. Staff generally very helpful and obliging. Our flight out was delayed for 24 hours and hotel pushed the booking forward a day without additional charges.

Very authentic style, friendly hotel staff, central (bus stop line 85 in front of the hotel), best Zigeunerschnitzel I ever had (very large portion though, certainly enough to share)

Super breakfast, staff very helpful, spoke good English. Very clean. Excellent evening meal. Booking, checking in and out, any requests all exceptionally efficiently dealt with.

Bathroom was a bit small, but adequate for a short stay - for longer, we would go for a larger room. Not a fan of feather pillows, but that is my personal preference.

It is a character hotel and the restaurant food is really nice.

The Potsdamer Strasse is noisy. The "am Potsdamer Platz" in the title is a bit misleading, as it is a few hundred meters away, but the distance is clear from the map.

Very pleasant, relaxed atmosphere, traditional and clean. Excellent breakfast, good location. Will be back.

shower drain in roon 407 is blocked ! otherwise nothing.

This hotel is in an excellent position just walking distance from Potsdamer Platz. Public transport is outside the hotel door. We required an upgrade for a third family member when checking in, and, courtesy of reception, received a lovely spacious room. The breakfasts were cooked on the spot and were huge, served in a delightful dining room. The old atmosphere with staff in period costume and old time music, added to the experience. And it was an inexpensive hotel!

For some, the street facing rooms might be a little noisy. For us it was a minor inconvenience.

The location.

Location very good' buses to station and local shopping areas outside hotel door; u bann 5 min walk away. Breakfasts varied and very nice. Rooms clean and comfortable; unfortunately booked triple room and 3rd bed just a put u up. Very safe as outside door locked and 24 hour reception.

Sehr gute zentrale Lage, öffentlicher Nahverkehr sehr gut erreibar: Bushaltestelle direkt vorm Haus.

Beim Frühstück geht es oft sehr beengt zu.
