Hotel Castell am Ku'Damm  

Just the location is very good

It isvery cold in the rooms, the heaters don't work properly. Because of he terrible windows you can feel the wind inside. The staff in the hotel is zero!

Friendly service although very little English. Unusual type of hotel for an American as German customs are a bit different. Fabulous breakfast included.

Would have been nice to know that the floors are kept locked during daylight hours so room keys would be kept on person at all times...

Nice room in an old fashioned 100 year old building that was well kept.I Really enjoyed my stay. Really worth 30-50 euro a night.

Good location closed to Ku'damm (ca.500m from 2 U-bahn and 1 S-bahn stops), relatively clean, decent breakfast, acceptable standard for the price. I have not checked WiFi, so cannot comment.

The women in the reception was very rude!! And internet was not free it does not matter the money for it but the woman gave me a password which does not works. I told her several times she said: ' come and use in this area or I will give your money' but I cant use it in the kitchen everytime! She behaves to people like her slaves! The hotel location just off Kurfurstendamm is very convenient to lots of shops and restaurants, and very accessible to buses and rail transportation. Its on a quiet side street and the rooms are nice for sleeping undisturbed from city noise. The breakfast buffet gives plenty choices for a good breakfast. The somewhat worn appearance of the hotel interiors was OK considering the good price of the room.

There are a lot of steps from the entrance up to the reception area, and the elevator is small and doesn't go all the way. The carpets are worn and the halls are dimly lighted. The reception staff was nice but they could be a bit more enthusiastic and friendly about welcoming guests.

I've stayed in a room in front of the reception (201) and i've heard lots of noises all night long. The night receptionist was watching TV really loud and laughing a lot. I've heard everything until 4 a.m. The lift is quite old and looks like it's going to fall at any minute (only for 2 persons each time and with wooden doors). The hotel is in a building with a phisioterapy clininc and other apartments. The room was old (except for the bathroom, that despite the smal size, was good), The room was noisy, the floor squeaks and comparing to other rooms at the same hotel, its really small. I don't recomend the hotel. I wasn't able to rest during the whole stay (3nights). I've been given a different room because I haven't booked directly with the hotel. A friend of mine has booked for the same price and for the same period a room in the hotel (directly with them) and have had a better room (almost twice the size of mine).

Good location to travel inside Berlin and for connecting to Tegel airport, and in general good value for the money. Very large room, good bathroom and nice breakfast, considering the really budget price. Even if it is in Kurfürsterdamm it is actually on a tangent street and it is really quiet. The room is warm even if outside it was -15 Celsius... Complementary Wi-Fi is nice too. Will use again.

We found one object from a previous guest (an hair lace) under the bed, which testify that probably cleanliness is not the top. However we didn't spot anything particular about that. In general you can't complain too much as here you get more than you pay for.

Nice room, value for money

The room whuch was given for us had a very bad smell because I gues someone before us smoked in it... But after we contacted a reception desk the room has been changed to a similar, without bad smell.

It was situated in a quiet place, yet really close to one of the main streets. Our room and the bathroom were ok. Breakfast had many alternatives - although it varied a lot depending on who was making it.

The walls between rooms were quite thin and unfortunately we happened to have noisy neighbours for a few nights. The elevator was old so I didn't want to use it (I don't have any problems climbing the stairs but maybe an older person would mind...)
