Hotel ElchIrrerstr. 9, Mitte, 90403 Nürnberg (Show map) Very good, Score from 122 reviews“Quaint hotel & restaurant in a very good location in Nuremberg ”
Jon,
Annandale
The small family-run Hotel Elch is situated in the idyllic castle district in Nuremberg, between Weinmarkt and Neutor, next to St. Sebald church. In this 14th century timber-framed building - first recorded as an inn in 1342 - the rooms have been furnished in a style from days gone by. If you appreciate the combination of an original rustic setting and a friendly atmosphere, then the Hotel Elch is the ideal place for you. Hotel Rooms: 12

Everything - charming historic building, location, friendly staff, breakfast, good old stairs provide needed excercise. Restaurant was full, but my fault, did not book. Food quality is obviously excellent.

The hotel is a destination in itself. It has been listed as an inn for centuries, and that history is evident in the walls/ceilings with exposed beams, etc. That being said, it has all modern comforts and is simply a wonderful place to stay. The location, inside the walls of the old city, means you're experiencing the heart of it all throughout your stay. Great place. Were going back!

Smallest and hottest room, without air clima, in summer it could be really like an... Oven! Expensive in relation to the quality of the services offered.

This hotel is not disabled friendly. I emailed before booking asking for a room on a lower floor as I am disabled and find stairs very difficult. They replied and said they would save me a lower room. When we arrived they hadn't bothered and made me scramble up 4 flights of stairs to our room. Not only that, there were 3 stairs in our room to get to the toilet. We complained but the girl at the desk didn't care. We found the staff to be very rude and miserable. Our room was dirty, very small, wires hanging out of the wall and from the central light. We had to wash our own drinking glasses before we could use them, they were filthy............ All this for 84 Euros, although the hotelier did reduce this price in the end. All in all a very bad and miserable experience, thank goodness it was only one night........ Not recommended

The fact that it still has the same basic outside design as the original inn was the thing that got us to fall in love with it. The mattress was one of the most comfortable I ever encountered in a hotel room. Plenty of breakfast. The extreme closeness of the parking garage. We booked a double room, with an extra bed and it was roomy enough for the three of us. The location is right at the start of the old city and you are 5 minutes away from the Central Market. Beautiful hotel.

Very good location, everything can be visited by foot ! The hotel is very noisy, because of the staircase in wood that creaks a lot... You can also hear what happens in the bathroom of other rooms.

The location is fantastic, straight into the center. The hotel also has a nice and cosy "traditional" feeling, and the staff is polite and helpful. I didn't mind but it's worth noting that the hotel is on 3 floors and doesn't have an elevator (the staircase could be an issue for older people).

Very helpful staff, convenient parking (for extra price), excellent location, very good restaurant at the 1st floor, walking distance from all sights, old fashion furniture in the rooms. A bit too expensive, breakfast is not included, somewhat noisy because of the restaurant, rooms could have been a bit bigger.

The hotel was nice and quaint with a location less than 10 minutes walk rom the U-Bahn. It was also around the corner from my favorite restaurant in Nurnberg. The restaurant in the hotel was also good. The 2 best things about the hotel were the wonderful breakfast every morning and the fair-sized bathroom with very nice shower. Many hotels in the old city have very small bathrooms with awkward sized showers. The staff was also quite nice and attentive.

Location was excellent - very easy walking to many restaurants and attractions & nearby U bahn. Couldn't use the bar for casual drink as restaurant was always fully booked - so nowhere to sit. But all rooms have a mini bar.We went out to nearby bars

“The staff were very good in offering the opportunity to speak english (my mother language), though I persisted in talking German, and they were very patient and understanding while I talked!! (Im in Germany completing a languge course, so I understand well but speak not so well!). It was very busy at breakfast and they had a fair array of food available. The entire room was exceptionally clean and it was a comfortable bed to sleep in.” Erin, Horsham, Victoria |
