Hotel Etab am Klinikum  

Its a quiet, quite quaint place a bit away from the main city in the suburbs of Heidelberg. The rooms are clean & decently comfortable. The breakfast though not expansive is sufficient to kick off the day with. It offers a decent value for the amount paid. It also gives one an opportunity to stay in a quiet neighbourhood & gives a chance to travel to the site thru different routes on the tram.

The hotel is a wee bit away, tucked in the suburbs of Heidelberg. The rooms in the main building & the annexe are situated on the 1st & 2nd floors & are accesible by a spiral staircase only. This is way too much of a bother when you are travelling with bulky luggage. It can either break your back or your knees & is very troublesome to older folks or those with knee or back problems. The net facility is not provided as a wifi & has to be bought. If the Hotel takes care of these two issues, its an ideal place to stay in & that too at a right price. Hope they listen & implement

No elevator

I liked the system that gives out keys automatically. The breakfast was just great! Comfortable beds.

The staff was very helpful and friendly. The lady at the counter was very considerate and established rapport with us as guests from the first time of meeting.

The hall to our room smelled like smoke. I did not appreciate that because we had a 4 week old baby with us. Furthermore, we had to cover our nose every time that we went out to the hallway because the smoke was so thick.

Very friendly and helpful staff. It is a family run hotel and the owner is attentive to his guests. Good buffet breakfast. Fairly central location and easy access to city center via tram line.

Room was a bit small and could be freshened up but completely in line with hotels in terms of rates in Heidelberg, being one of the most expensive cities in Germany.

Good value for money. The best location in Heidelberg when the venue of the meeing you have to attend is the "Kopfklinik". Adequate housing and breakfast (though I did not use the latter much...)

There is no personnel on site after 20:00. I had to have a careful look for the entrance at 23:30. At the other hand, the digital "reception" is adequate. Another flaw was the quite late breakfast hour, 08:00 for breakfast does not combine with beginning of the meeting in the Kopfklinik at.. 08:00! Even check-in was not allowed before 08:00....

The buffet breakfast was substantial and rich, and the service friendly and efficient, both at breakfast and concerning the room. We could hop on the tram, which stopped right outside the hotel, and be in the center of Heidelberg in 10 minutes. Coming back from the city center to the relative quiet of the area was welcome. A walk through beautiful countryside behind the hotel led us to an outdoor farm store.

The room tended to be hot (late May - early June, temps soared) - no cross- breeze or air-conditioning. Also, it would have been convenient to have had a small refrigerator in the room.

Das Personal ist sehr nett, bemüht und hilfsbereit. Man fühlt sich gut aufgehoben.
