Hotel Engel  

Hotel Engel is a very good hotel. Cleanliness of the rooms and the bathrooms is excellent. Set in a suburb of Ulm you will enjoy undisturbed nightrest here. Food is very tasty, the chateaubriand we enjoyed was excellent - as are the regional specials on the menu. Breakfast was very good. Staff is friendly and correct. We stayed here on our way down south and decided to stay here again on our way north.

I like just about everything at the Hotel Engel. The traditional Schwabian atmosphere, the welcoming staff, the excellent restaurant, the rooms, it's proximity to the autobahn, the comfort.... I have used it three times now. The first on my own, the second with my wife, and the third with a friend, both of whom were much impressed. It is perfectly situated on my route from England to Italy, and I can think of no better place to end a long day's driving, or to begin the next leg of the journey - refreshed and fortified. I look forward to staying there many times more, and would like to wish all the staff a very happy Christmas.

Really liked the food and it is a quiet location.

Non-smokers beware that apparently smoking is allowed in the bar and this wafts up the staircase as staff wedge open the doors.

Restaurant - helpful waitress who provided English menu for us. Good food. Good breakfast too which was included in the price.

Having to wait to check in as staff were busy in restaurant and no-one in Reception. Had to go and ask someone to come and check us in. Expected double room but got a twin. Made do rather than try to change rooms as don't speak any German and not sure if staff spoke any English.

The hotel has friendly staff and old fashioned but clean rooms. Bathrooms are average for this class of hotel.

The lighting is not very suitable for applying make up. Using the internet I found that a "surf nanny" is installed that will block access to sites with certain words in the URL. When I asked the staff about it they turned out to be unaware of this. They promised to remedy it but have not done so during my stay.

Convenient for visiting centre of Ulm (spire on the minster). Hotel easy to find when driving from Fussen. Easy access to autobahn when driving on towards Stuttgart. Comfortable and inexpensive. Good local traditional menu available.

Ensuite shower a bit small.

A pleasant holiday atmosphere , with care taken to ensure that our interests were catered for, with time taken to give advice and directions to various points of interest. Excellent food . . .

Unfortunately, owing to the semi-rural location, there were quite a lot of flies around . . . the only weak point we found . . .

I didn't like the two duvets just laid on the bed. One double duvet would be preferable.

Friendly receptionist who spoke English. Clean rooms. Good location near motorway. Good car parking. Pleasant restaurant with good selection of fish dishes.

Poor breakfast - poor service, congealed scrambled egg, cold hot chocolate.

we booked very last minute due to heavy traffic issues in Germany, check in went smooth, dinner was alright. There's a big safe parking place behind the hotel. The room was spacious and clean and comfy enough\ make sure you pick a non-smoking room if you are a non smoker!
