Grand Hotel Esplanade Berlin    

Super friendly welcome from concierge who very kindly parked our car at front door ,we understand the Manager also drives a Jaguar! This Hotel is sumptuous ,and meeting Oskar in Harry's Bar was a bonus. Thank you all for a most enjoyable stay ,loved Berlin loved Grand Esplanade .

Spacious, comfortable rooms. Helpful staff.

Breakfast not included and VERY expensive. Location not so great for tourists..better suited to Business travellers. No good restaurants in walking distance.

Far too expensive. No tea or coffee facilities in the room so they can charge you 11 euros (£11) to bring a cup of tea to your room! 6 euros (£6) if you go and get it yourself from the bar. Small bottle of water in the room was 6euros (£6). In view of this I wouldnt stay here again. Also staff were not particularly helpful.

The design, breakfast, location

No free wifi!

Every thing about the hotel. The location is in between the Brandenburg Gate and Ku'daam street. The staff is so frindly and helpfull. The hotel concierge is really the man to go to for any thing. The bed is so comfortable that you cant get up. All in all Excellent hotel.

No free Wi-Fi. As a 5 star hotel they should've at least free lobby wi-fi

It was the perfect place to stay in Berlin: - a lot of comfort with a very friendly staff - very practical location - would definitely come back to this Hotel

Most of the staff were very friendly and helpful. The facilities were excellent for business.

The room was too hot and the air conditioning did not work. Room service only brought one wash cloth each day, in spite of reminders. The concierge was a bit rude to my wife when advising transportation options.

Very nice hotel and locted in good place. 10 minutes walking to reach shops and markets of berline.

A hotel like this should have Internet - €10 a day is insanely expensive. Our room was not ready at 3pm. The room was too warm and no way to control the air con. No tea making facilities in the room or iron. Breakfast is also very expensive.

Nice with the swimmingpool and nice environment. The staff were polite and lived up to the standards expected on a big hotel. Nice toilet/bathroom.

The lady who was our first contact when we checked in was smilling and nice but she spoke so fast that we did not get the info she gave and even talking rather fast, she did not give us very much info. At this price we would expect free wi-fi all over the hotel. 4 euro for a very small cup of coffee is close to robbery. We were at the pool friday morning and there were no towels. Not a problem if we were told, but we were not. The tv program selection is just not good enough for a hotel of this sice and standard. Not funny to watch an english or american classic movie syncroniced to german... When we checked out, we were charged for some chocolate from the minibar we did not take. We never use the minibar when we are staying at a hotel. I could have said so at the counter but I did not have the energy to "fight" over a piece of chocolate. I just think it is bad buisiness to charge custumers for things they do not consume. All in all, too many small things that did not work for us. Not good for at hotel this sice and standard

Hotel was nice. I liked the pool, although it is not very big, but the water was warm and the swimming was OK. Breakfast was also OK - warm dishes like fried potatoes, mushrooms, bakon, scrambled eggs; cold dishes like smoked salmon, different meats, cheeses, canned fruits, yoghurts, croissants. Fittness room was OK - number of jogging tracks, etc. The room was very comfortable - bed, linens, bathroom, TV channels (mostly German), I had also I nice view on the river.

I think that in 21st century it is unacceptable not to have wi-fi for free!!!

cleaning noises from 7 am on Saturday, you do not expect that in 5*hotel, double bad came out as two single bads, two rather small quilts instead of one large queen size bed were very dissapointing, room is not equippet with a kettle, you have to pay for everything additionally e.g. internet, sauna, the hotel was ok but nothing spectacular, too pretentious to be honest, I wouldn't like to stay there again, the breakfast was great though :-)

Welcoming atmosphere, lovely breakfast especially the 'egg chef'. Nicely appointed rooms.

Poor lighting in room. Subdued lighting is no good if you are looking for something.

The location is good. Staff are mostly kind, especially the cleaning staff.

I did not like the fact that the internet costs Euro 9,95 per day. It is quite ridiculous that a 5 star Hotel should charge this rate. Another aspect that creates an immediate bad taste with regard to the hotel and its management is that the water that is left outside the minibar, is not complementary. In most 5 star Hotel the water outside the minibar is complementary. However, in this Hotel you will have to face the horrific price tag of 6 Euros for a small bottle of water. They should really change this cheap way of swindling people out of 6 Euros. Very Very cheap tactic!!!

Tha staff were very friendly, knowledgable and helpful. Their restaurant recommendations were excellent. The hotel was clean, modern and well appointed.

The room wasn't ready by the 3pm check in time. About 45 minutes late. The entertainment in the piano bar was so bad as to be funny.

The rooms are very comfortable. On arrival, the lady at reception was a little rude however this was the only occasion we experienced this with the staff. All other staff members were excellent. The location is good with the main link to the city being the bus which is 2 minutes away and is regular. I would stay here again no problem.
