We found the staff most helpful and pleasant. The room was very clean, comfortable and with a pleasant outlook. Very hot water was always on tap. The windows were double glazed so it was very quiet despite late night noise outside, and the station was across the road but wasn't heard in the hotel at all. The breakfast which was included was superb. I would thoroughly recommend this hotel. Couldn't find fault with hotel or staff.

Hotel Königshof is very close to Mainz main railway station, also not far from the historical city center. Double room was rather big, also quiet. Breakfast was good. Like to stay in this hotel again when in Mainz.

Great hotel! Pretty older property across from the Mainz Hauptbahnhof. Nice decent-sized room with super high ceilings and, in my room, a big (for German hotels) bed. And a fan which I love for white noise- there's ac too though I had no use for it in late October. Breakfast was quite good and I love hotels that allow you self-serve coffee and even the surprisingly good superautomatic espresso- no waiting for coffee to be served to you, a strange formality in German hotels.

The staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was comfortable. The breakfast buffet was good. The location, across from the main railway station, was excellent for making connections to the Frankfurt Airport.

We traveled Germany on Eurorail. Location was great just across the street from Mainz central train station. Staff was friendly and provided excellent information. Having arrived on Sunday evening we inquired about Rhine River tours. Irena, without us knowing proactively made several phone calls to find out about river tours; schedules, cost, etc. and then called our room with information. So friendly and helpful! Hotel location, staff, excellent breakfast, clean room, free internet and price suggest another stay at Konigshof when touring the Mainz area.

We liked the location - it being close to the railway station, yet it wasn't far to walk down to the old fort area on the Rhine. The room was larger than we had experienced in other hotels on this trip. Breakfast was very good - a great selection.

The staff was welcoming and helpful with suggestions for touring and restaurants. The room was spacious, quiet, and air-conditioned. The breakfast buffet was excellent. We received a recommendation to stay here from the German teacher at my American high school. We could walk across the street to the hotel from the train station.

Our room (#300) was on the back of the hotel and therefore very quiet, which we enjoyed. The hotel is very well run and very clean. All facilities worked well and the included full German breakfast was excellent. And very bountiful -- eggs, bacon, cereal, rolls, bread, jams, cold cuts, cheese, yogurt, fruit, coffee, tea, expresso and in generous supply. Location on square with train station excellent. Easy access to city shopping and sights. Would definitely recommend this hotel to friends.

Location, clean rooms, our room was also quite quiet. Breakfast is very good. Friendly personnel. Nothing to really complain about. No vending machines nor bar. On the other hand, there is a kebab place just next to hotel and you can buy beverages there.

Chose hotel Konigshof due to the location, we planned a stopover to recover from a flight from Australia before taking the train to Paris. As we had a lot of luggage we were concerned about transit from Frankfurt airport and the fact that Frankfurt hbf was in a red light area. We read in a book that Mainz hbf offered one level access to the surrounding square, then we found the Hotel Konigshof directly across the square. Our trip could not have been easier. Bought a group ticket (covers 5 people) from Frankfurt airport to Mainz (also includes all day local travel). Arrived at hotel early and we were able to check in. The room was spotless and more than met our expectation for a European hotel room. The breakfast included was among the best this well travelled family have encountered. We really enjoyed the ease of the public transport in the are and travelled within Mainz and also visited a couple of surrounding towns the next day (with another 15 euro group card - best bargain ever) Then we're able to catch our train to Paris from across the square. Everyone who is in transit at Frankfurt should stay here!!

Excellent location next to the main railroad station and in the midst of shopping and eating; close to several attractions including the Gutenberg Museum and Rhine River; convenient to Gutenberg University where I had some business. Staff really went out of their way to help me and the fruhstuck (free breakfast; don't have umlauts on the keyboard) is palatial. Makes affordability luxurious.

Set in a good location reasonably priced, decor might be dated but the hotel was clean and that for me is more important then having modern furnishings. Really good breakfast and helpful staff.

24 hour service desk and the beds were comfortable. Breakfest was ok also with scrambled eggs and bacon, not just lunch meat and cheese. Very good next time I need to go to Mainz I will be staying in the Hotel Königshof. Rewe was right around the corner for shopping as well. Maybe the tv channels could be better. But thats why I had my computer with me. Lol
