Great location situated opposite a pretty lake & a 5-10 minute walk from Hamburg Hbf. Good sized & well decorated rooms. Wonderful restaurant, bar & reception area.

Connoisseur was pompous.

Rooms are spacious, location good, spa&pool well kept. Great restaurant with the superb staff and manager. Also the front desk staff was very helpfull.

They could change something at the bar to be more welcoming.

Ultermost Luxe. Real superbe hotel. This is a 5 stars, and you get 5 stars everywhere you are in the hotel. Of course it is not cheap but so much better. Dinner and breakfast are top class. A real opportunity to combine luxe and Gourmet. You feel privileged from start to end.

Nothing. Possibly, car parking is not that easy as not that many near places are available. Hotel offers car parking but at 35 euro.

Very attentive service from the whole staff. Everyone who met me once remembered my name and would greet me by name every time they saw me! It made me feel like they really wanted my business and for me, that's very important.

the key system for the rooms is outdated. rooms are very very cold heating hardly does any good.

Rooms are cold and the air condition is not sufficient to warm it up.

Surrounding area, room and facilities - everything was really nice. We travel a lot, but this was one of the best experiences we ever had.

The nautical decor on the different floors, the spaciousness on corridors and apulent landings by staircases. The bathroom was very elegant and stylish. The staff were very helpful and courteous.

To get the car takes a little too much time

Poor service, concierge was useless and recommended a terrible restaurant, and forgot to give us the address or directions, after resisting having to book anything for us at all. The other staff were combative when we complained about never receiving newspapers, the concierge, items billed to our room that we didn't use, etc. The spa facilities were minimal, outdated, and in no way worthy of a 5 star hotel. And the hotel closed the spa without warning for two weeks 3 days into our week-long stay! We were told we could use the facilities at another hotel, which were definitely nicer, but having to haul our bathrobes and our baby around the city in the rain to use a (very overcrowded) spa wasn't exactly the relaxing experience we had in mind.

The warm water took a while before it came out of the pipes. In the zinks it never came, in the bath top and in the showe it took quite a while. Room 274

It was a wonderful hotel. Extremely nice rooms and service from staff on exceptionel high level. Staff is so friendly and helping you with whatever issue you might have. We will for sure come back and stay again.

Location of the hotel is quite near from the hub sation and accomodation of the hotel room was excellent especialy large bathtub was very useful for like us who like bathing , only concern was room was too dark for like us who have black eyes , Staffs were heipful with smile onlv concern was that she said to me they prepare extra bed for my gaughter but we could not find e find extra bed in the room and were charged fee but she amended a bill with smile .

superlative location, wonderful rooms and common areas. speccially appreciated the water bottle on the night stand and the free nespresso on top of the minibar the swimming pool and spa area is great. sauna is very good and the realxing area is huge.

the gym was so disappointing! after 5 minutes I left: we were 2 and it was overcrowded: it's 20 m2, with an old multifunctional weight machine and one elliptic treadmill... really disappointing for such a nice hotel. breakfast not included. cost is +30 euro... and not even THAT great.

The staff was pretty old-school, which I assume, is intended and that has its charme. That's how a historic 5-star hotel has to be run. The rooms are very nicely decorated and furnished, the bathrooms do not lack anything; an execellent mix of modern and comfort. Whenever I needed anything, it was attended to immediately. Even upon complaint, the staff was very friendly, took immediately care of the issues and also granted some complimentary things as compensation. All in all, I am very satisfied

Although just having renovations completed only in Mai 2012, already some things show a wear and tear, but only minor things.

The recent refurbishment has been done to a very high standard and almost every conceivable facility is provided. The roooms are large and luxurious. The Bose ipod/smartphone dock and the N'espresso coffee machine were very welcome inclusions. All of the staff were unfailingly attentive, pleasant and helpful.

Only two minor criticisms. There were only two English-speaking TV channels available - BBC World News and CNN. Both are good at what they do, but are, by their very nature, repetitive and, eventually, boring. The part-tiled corridor floors look great, but are intermittently very noisy when suitcase wheels and high-heel shoes travel across them causing surprisingly disruptive noise in the rooms.

Staff were very friendly. Commissionaire found some trips for me. The food was divine, both in the restaurant and the bar. Loved the piano player/singer, who seemed to play in the bar from 5pm to midnight every evening. A variety of songs including Tom Waits and the Beatles. Saw Udo Lindenberg wandering in and out of the bar - I am told he lives in the hotel.

I would have preferred a room with a view of Alster Lake.

Like to stay in historic bldgs like this one , clean, helpfull staff, good choice of breakfast , nice atmospher of the hotel.
