I chose this hotel primarily for its restaurant which had received good reviews as I knew that we would be arriving late and hungry after a long drive. Unfortunately, the day prior to our arrival, I received an email from the owner advising that because of the German public holiday for Epiphany, ALL the hotel staff would be on absent the day of arrival and that I could find my key in a secured box by the front door. Obviously, this meant that the restaurant would also be closed. As it was at that stage too late to book alternative accommodations, I emailed back asking for a local restaurant recommendation which was provided by a paper that I found left of the bed when I arrived. Unfortunately, the owner had not checked booking levels with the restaurant, or made any other arrangement to guarantee a table, and being the only restaurant open in the village on that night, the restaurant was fully booked and completely unavailable. So, after a very long drive, we had to get back in the car and go searching for an open restaurant in order to eat anything other than our finger nails. We did found an open restaurant about 9pm, about 5km away from the hotel that was just about to close, and we were lucky enough to squeeze in and eat some rather uninspiring food rather quickly - certainly better than nothing in the circumstances, but far from the experience imagined or booked.
My advice to the owners: If you are going on vacation, or taking a day off, please CLOSE THE HOTEL, its the only right thing to do for your guests.
A lovely building in a pretty village next to the Moselle river.
Breakfast was good.
Off street parking was secure
