Friendly staff; luxurious experience

requirement was not fullfilled e.g. matress of a double bed instead of two single ones.

Wonderful junior suite, and the excellent service, in the dining room and generally.

The only possible negative is the noise from the railway behind, which I could hear as I like my window open at night.

TV programs" Poor".... Standard dinner menu " 3 days for a same menu"....

What is not to like? This is a first class hotel, a home from home, with excellent facilities and all that at a prime location. It is just a question of finding enough reasons to return.

The situation,we had a suite overlooking the Rhine. Last visit was 32 years ago and it was as good as we remembered , perhaps better.

We have all apreciated the excellent service provided by Mr. Caruzo, speaking various launguange, along our dinner at first night. It has been also very kind the woman in charge of Breakfast to come to talk with us on Portuguese. Very friend environment we all liked these personal approach.

1) Suggest to make necessary refurnishment on corridor / leaders beetween 3r/2nd/1st floor ( the wall has water infiltration I think) - very bad impact for the tourist. 2) The reception could / can be much more involved and/or well prepared on the "tourist activities" available on the region. Not just say: out of season we do not know!! 3) We came from Geneva. one day before i called to know how best to reach the Hotel. It has been said by taxi (aprox €80) However we discovered taht the train station was just behind or maybe up to Rudesheim; and thereafter to take a taxi. I could saved € 100 if proactive information could be given on that moment.

Wonderful suite. Real marble bathroom with ground heating, view on the Rhein. Breakfast gorgeous. Visit the different rooms: absolutely great. Only 5km from Rudesheim. Easy parking. We loved it. Definitely.

Historic hotel on the Rhine with wonderful scenery on the doorstep. Plenty of parking and Assmannshausen railway station is just a short walk away. There's a main road at the front and a railway behind, but these are minor inconveniences compared with the excellent location on the Rhine and the atmospheric interior.

No complaints.

- The pillows of the bed didn't give much support. I know these things are personal and very easy to solve if you just bring your own pillow. - Just a very different minor issue, AC/DC should be played VERY LOUD and on a proper CD-player. But if you do decide to play it soft in a hotelbar , which I find very cool, than make sure that AC/DC doesn't sound like a super-mega-extended remix version. Let me explain: "I LOVE YOU DARLING, thank you for this wonderfull romantic getaway in this awesome cast..."........hi-hi-hi way way way way to to to hell hell hell hell....hell hell hell highway to hell i'm on on on on on the the the hi hi hi hi hi. Although a hotelbar that prefers to play ACDC over the usual corny hotelmusic will definitely see me again. Just fix the CD or the player.

very poor lighting in the hotel, in my opinion it would be hard to make 3 star rating

A beautiful old hotel, elegantly maintained in a fabulous location.

The dining room is too dark.

I was recommended this hotel by an American friend with a young boy who stayed here and were blown away by the European charm. Indeed, almost everyone in Assmannshausen seems to be elderly American tourists on a European tour, but Hotel Krone also had a fair number of Germans due to its restaurant (some business people) and taking their elderly grandparents out. There was also a party of affluent bikers having a birthday party and a Chinese group while we were there. The over the top kitsch was fun, the building is palatial, and there's a pleasant walk over the hill through woods and vineyards past monuments to 19th century wars to an even more kitschy town that kind of reminded me of Whistler in the unremitting tourist orientation, but of course with German & wine stuff going on.

The entire river-front strip of hotels is nested right between a railway & a busy road, river, and other railway on the far side of the river. I suspect they may never make enough money again to be able to restore the previous splendour. But we slept OK after selecting the more expensive doubles on the river side (thanks TripAdvisor reviewer! and fortunate we didn't need the windows open since it was cool enough.) However, it couldn't be that hard for a 5 star hotel to make a king size bed without having the split between mattresses in the middle, very uncomfortable! There were other even older hotels further up the hill that might have been a better bet noise wise, especially in summer.

Warning!! Hotel is 30m from railroad, and trains are passing by on a high speed each 5-30 min. You hear them even if your good plastic window is closed. Your body is vibrating.... Beds are older then my grandma. High prices in a restaurant. And white wine there was extremely cold. After 22.00 you could not find free places on the parking.

We had a beautiful demi-tester bed, room with balcony overlooking the Rhine which was a short distance away across the road. Tastefully furnished with antiques and a lovely bathroom but actually not much room to put anything. The hall, dining room and lounge are quite dark and furnished in keeping with its heritage, heavy drapes, lots of history recorded in pictures on display which is interesting as Wagner wrote some music here. The grounds are well kept. We were in an adjoining house which was no problem as the pool was in this area.

Although there is a beautiful grand piano in the lounge area not one person came into the room while I was there. Although the staff are excellent and the surroundings superb it was souless. Perhaps the 'season' had finished ?

The old-world atmosphere and beautiful antiques.

Price was high. It was acceptable for the room charges, but the dining room was way too expensive!

I loved the history and proximity to the Rhein.

Trains on both side of the river go all night long. Can be loud.

Perfect location for a relaxed weekend away. Two excellent restaurants. Wonderful breakfast buffet.

Beds were a little firm. Breakfast buffet was replenished in a relaxed fashion. Neither of these issues reduced our enjoyment of our stay.

Good staff, friendly, helpful, good Englsh spoken. Lovely,romantic type, old hunting lodge styled buildings.

Our room was too hot, and no good airflow so quite difficult to sleep. Bed not too comfortable (too soft matrasses (all hotels in Germany???) Main railway line running behind hotel - very noisy even at 03.00 and 05.00 trains rushing through, hotel can't help that, but it disturbed a night's sleep - ask for rooms on the ruver side of the hotel, then noise will be reduced.

good service from the staff, and location is nice and quiet. very clean.

Would have eaten there in the evening, but a little too expensive. So we went into town. Reception for the television was very poor, bad picture. Area around the pool needs updating,looks outdated and very boring, and needs to be more inviting.We would stay again.

Beautiful old building with fantastic views of the Rhine. The first time we've been offered sparkling wine with our breakfast! Loved the marble bathroom and sumptuous interior design.

Although we booked a deluxe room we didn't have a balcony and could only enjoy our Rhine view when standing up. The trains are noisy but we found if you drink enough wine they don't bother you so much!

Room was too noisey being on the train line meant hearing high speed trains all night.
