Landhotel Guglhupf  

The owner, Monika, was very helpful, friendly, and efficient. She gave us great advice on where to eat and unusual places to see. The room was charming and good sized. The breakfasts were really fabulous! Location close to the castles in the area a big plus. We actually had a view of both castles from our room! Parking is easy and free. I would definitely stay here again and would recommend it to anyone visiting the area.

The breakfast with Moni's home-made pastry and bread, along with fruit, yogurt, eggs, jams of every type imaginable, and meats and cheeses to suit any nationality's morning habits was a real surprise for a hotel in this price category. The room was very large, clean and inviting, and the family-run aspect very warm. Daniel gave us a terrific dinner recommendation and reserved for us. We were close to the castles but out of the tourist path.

There is a large spa facility very close down the road, and we did not know about it until after we arrived, and it was too late to take advantage. This would have been an even more inviting selling point!

A fantastic location close to the Neuschwanstein castle. Terrific service, especially from the manager, good clean rooms and a nice breakfast.

We stayed in room 24, and from our large balcony, we had a good view of both castles which were about one mile away.. The whole building is pleasantly decorated, and the choice for breakfast was incredible. The staff appeared to be mostly family members, and were pleasant and obliging. An excellent restaurant is just a short stroll away.

At times the room was a little chilly, and the the radiators could not be controlled from the room. However,this did little to distract from the overall pleasure of our stay. The cost may be a bit on the high side, but the experience was memorable.

As other reviewers have mentioned, we appreciated the delicious breakfast and comfortable rooms. The owners also have an adorable black labrador. It made us happy to see him every day that he greeted us.

It was our 2-st trip to this area. First time we lived in Hohenschwangau near Alpsee and saw to castles from down to up. It was wonderful but very loud and crowd every day. In Guglhupf Landhotel we stayed for a week and we had very good rest! We lived in Hohenschwangau view room and it was greatest view. We traveled without car and at once at check-in Daniel handed us special guest-cards for free trips by all local buses. Guglhupf Landhotel is very comfortable family run hotel under management Frau Monica, her son Daniel and his wife Tina. They are very helpful and hospitable. Our room was very clean and warm. We read about cold room floors and took our slippers and no problem. Frau Monica does all for guests good rest. One must see and eat her breakfasts! Do you know what is mean “Guglhupf”? It is shape for cake! And the name is corresponding with matter. Guests had fresh cake every day and outstanding pie at Sunday! Certainly recommend. Thanks a lot. Alla & Valentin. We’ll be back :)

Noisy from working air-conditioner on the house top was felt at night.

The staff went above and beyond to help us ~ with recommending a place for dinner, helping figure out a few specific German phone numbers, having breakfast ready early for us to accomodate our early departure, etc.

Staff was friendly, and not sure about what the reviewers are saying about the dog, but the dog was cute and playful. She even wanted to play with us! As a fan of fine china, I loved the dining sets and my boyfriend liked the homemade cake.

I think most people who booked through booking.com would have experienced this. What is quoted on booking.com will not be the same as what you will be charged since they do not include city taxes etc.

The shades didn't effectively darken the room at night. There was always a dull street lamp glow illuminating the room when I was trying to sleep

Monika the manager was amazing! Spacious, comfy, clean rooms. Totally updated bathrooms. Close to castles, great breakfast, will refer all friends to stay there.

Monica is wonderful and the breakfast was superb - the views from the room were stunning and the room was wonderful as was the bathroom. We highly recommend this little hotel not least because of the incredible breakfast and wonderful Monica!

A disabled person would struggle as no lift - but that's all - its wonderful!
