My debit card was charged the price of stay (41 Euros) at the time of my
booking through this website, but when I arrived at the hotel I was
charged in cash. When I asked about this, I was guaranteed by the
reception that the deposit charged on my card would be refunded.
However, when asked about specifics as to when I could expect the amount
to be returned to my card, the only (unsatisfactory) answer I was given
was "The manager is not here right now and it cannot be done
without the manager." I might have overlooked this if it had just
been a matter of one day, but beware, I have to highlight the fact that:
1) It took a full SIX days and several (international) phone calls to receive the return of my deposit
2) When I called from the airport (Yes, you are reading this right, because it took THAT long.) to ask for an explanation (as it was my LEGITIMATE right to know), the receptionist RUDELY shut the phone down on me, and I had to call again. By the way, this was an international phonecall. I know we are only talking about 41 euros, not 500 (and by the way the receptionist who shut the phone down on me had the gall to point that out), but it's the principle that just does not make this experience sit right. I would expect more from a respectable hotel, in terms of transparency and respect for the client. I am a budget traveller, I had calculated the expenses for this trip carefully - I had calculated that amount to be on my prepaid card in order to pay for other expenses at the subsequent destination in our trip (and did not expect to have to chase the hotel down up to the day I was leaving in order to have it back!).
Oh, and there is no air conditioning in the room.
The location was great, conveniently located next to the subway stop
Adenauerplatz in Charlottenburg. Stay here only if the manager is
present because when the manager is absent apparently nobody has the
authority to act in terms of issuing the return of your deposit.
