I appreciated the free tea making facilities in trhe foyer. The receptionist behind the desk was unfriendly compared to the other hotels we stayed in and our room was small and stuffy and a bit smelly. It was also a long way to walk to the reception.

Friendly and helpful staff, clean and comfortable I left a book there, and the staff were very accommodating in sending it back to the U.S. This was fine for a stay in Marburg, and we would definitely recommend it. Only downside was that to get to our room on the third floor, you had to take the elevator to the second floor, get off, walk to a wing of the building, and then take an elevator to the third floor.

We stayed in a comfort room which was very large and comfortable. The room had tea/coffe facilities which was nice for a German hotel. Breakfast was also very good with a large selection of hot & cold food. Although very nice it was a little overpriced & we had to pay an extra 7 euros per night for parking.

Room was OK. Staff helpful. The spanish restaurant attached to the hotel was very good Place was a bit tired. Garage was quite diffuicult with having to negotiate a car lift. Then it was quite problematic to get your luggage from the car to the room.

The breakfasts were fabulous with a massive choice. Rooms were excellent. Friendly staff. Nice to stay in a privately run hotel rather than a chain. No air conditioning in room. It was too hot and you couldn't open the window because of the noise of traffic on the busy road below.

The staff were extremely friendly and efficient. The breakfast buffet was one of the best ones we've seen. There was a nice variety and the lattes/capps were delicious (just request one when they ask for your room number when you are seated at breakfast). The location of the hotel is superb. You can easily walk to the old town, which also puts you at a good start for the castle. The University is a bit of a longer hike, but still doable. Also, there is a cafe across from the Elisabeth church with Elisabeth in its name that has wonderful, dry white wines and friendly service. The hotel is located on a one-way street, with parking on the opposite turn from the hotel (just the way the street is laid out, the parking and hotel are connected). Looping around for a second (third, or fourth) try is not that difficult. My husband ended up dropping me off at the entrance, looping around, and picking me up again to loop once more for parking (once we were checked in).

The room we had was compact but newly decorated and perfectly comfortable. The hotel had good facilities and offered a very adequate breakfast buffet. We were able to walk easily into the centre of the altstadt.

This was a lovely hotel. The staff was helpful and attentive. The room was beautiful and well-kept. The location was convenient to the Oberstadt (old, scenic, historic part of town) and the university. I felt safe and secure. The breakfast was fantastic! We truly enjoyed our stay!

We chose this hotel due to its ideal location, between the railway station, my daughters flat and the beautiful old town area. Whilst not in the prettiest area of town, the Marburger Hof itself is very elegant, peaceful, and clean, and the staff are polite and efficient. The only things I could find fault with were the lack of a kettle and tea tray in the Comfort rooms, and it would have been nice to have air conditioning or some kind of ventilation as it was very warm and got noisy if the window was open.

I enjoyed the tea and fresh fruit that was available 24 hours a day. Real cups & saucers, not disposables, enhanced the tea breaks. The breakfast was great as well. Cloth tablecloths, an elegant setting, and friendly staff made the breakfast a good way to start the day. Bathroom is compact by American standards.

I liked that there were lots of little extras, however, given the cost of staying there I would hope so. For example, tea was always available in the lobby and there was a basket of apples by the breakfast dinning room. The room was a decent size (we stayed in the comfort room) and very clean. Breakfast was very good and had a wide variety of hot and cold food to choose from. It is in between the main train station and the old town, so it's in a great location. Overall it was good, but expensive, you pay for all the little extras that aren't really that important to me. I would have preferred that the cost of breakfast was not included in the price of the room, but that you could pay extra for it if you chose to.

“It is very nice and comfortable hotel, not big and so luxury. But the rooms are clean and nice. There is a small swimingpool in the Hotel and sauna. I liked that there weren a lot of people and you can really relax in this hotel, Location not so exellent but not so far from the center, but next to the Bahnhof so it very easy to find it and have á few days in this hotel. Staff is very politely and friendly.” Mariya, Freiburg |
