The hotel lies between 2 metro stations each about 7 min walking distance. From there it is a 10-15 min trip to the city, which is really close by. The room is simple, but very spacious and very clean, including the bathroom and toilet. The beds are surprisingly comfortable, nice mattresses. The staff was also very nice and they spoke excellent English. The breakfast is worth the 4.50 euro, because it's all you can eat. They have different kinds of bread, cheese and meats, fruit, yoghurt, and also sweet things to put on your bread. All in all, good location (for Berlin Welcome Card users: its in zone A) and good value for money. Really the only bad thing was that there is no air conditioning, so you have to sleep with the windows open, but since our room was at the front side of the hostel (5th floor), we heard every noise coming from the street in front of the hotel. You also hear the tram pass by, really loudly. However, we found that we were so tired from exploring the city and that as soon as we fell sleep, the noise didn't bother us anymore. Also, there are some cafes and a bakery just by the hotel, but no big fast food restaurants like McDonald's or something. Lastly, the area is pretty ok, especially during the day, but not very well lit at night so maybe don't walk around by yourself (speaking as a girl). But not like I felt unsafe or anything.

The room was clean. I had almost everything I needed at my fingertips. The price was terrific. Internet didn't function well. I didn't have a tv remote in my room.

We liked the free parking at the back of the hotel and the convenient location close to the U. There's really no kitchen to use. It's a small cramped room in the basement that smell horribly and is also used for laundry. Most people seemed to go for breakfast outside or in the hostel (at 4,50 EUR per person) which was fine, but it was really bad for having lunch or dinner in the hostel (the so called kitchen didn't even have glasses or a cutting knife!)

Overall everything was perfect. Only slight downside was location (not terrible but could have been better) and to be fair that was my own fault for not doing more research!

Very cheap hotel served well by underground trains. They didn't mention that free WiFi is only in the hotel hall, in the rooms you have to pay for that.

Very low price for accommodation. It was very convenient as we were traveling like a small group of five people and lived all together in a one room + we had private bathroom. Sounds of S-Bahn in the early morning.

Cheap, good location, 5 mins walk from the U-bahn, supermarket and several fastfood restaurants nearby. The railway goes just outside the window so its a bit noisy if you open the window. Sleeping with closed windows wasn't a problem though.

Helpful staff, good breakfasts, good location. The lounge area looked a bit uninviting to me but I am over 50 and it would probably be fine for someone younger. I didn't use the KItchen, but that didn't look too inviting either, but I wasn't planning to cook anyway.

Good straightforward hostel accomodation. Comfy beds, decent size bathroom. Staff helpful and good location, near 2 underground and 1 train station. The curtain in our room was only half size, so it only came halfway down the window! Not good as it was groundfloor and overlooked the carpark, so anyone could look in! Fortunately we had a spare duvet in the room as it was an 8 bed room for 5 of us, so we folded it up on the windowsill, and didnt bother to complain. Also the curtain had 'mysterious' white stains all over it!!

The staff were friendly and helpful. My room was facing the street, railway and canal - so it was quite noisy. I also expected a single/ double room instead of a hostel room of 2 bunks and 2 beds.

Size of room is for 8 people to stay. General cleaning through out the whole stay. The staff at the hotel are terrible. Short worded, ignoring customer at waiting. In once case, I was the only person at the reception, two staff just kept chatting for 5min and ignoring me, until I was almost shouting to get their attention. I realize it's also a youth hostel, many young people come as a group and it can be very busy at certain point. But I booked for a double bedroom and paid for a hotel price. The level of service just so poor, make never wanna go back.

I liked the staff - everybody's really nice and friendly. For me this is a hostel and not a hotel so it was clean and everything but it was no more than a clean hostel and in the website it was presented as a 3 star hotel....so naturally I was expecting somethign else.... I didn't want to book a hostel. It is ok fopr a stay if you want to see berlin and you just need a place to sleep, but bring your ear plugs cause if somebody's making some noise in the coridor - you hear everything. No hair dryer was also a disapointment.

Meininger Hotel Berlin Hallesches Ufer is a nice, simple hotel/hostel. It was really convient that we could park our car for free at the site. The hotel staff are really friendly and could help us a lot with recommending sightseeing places and other questions as well. It's a clean hotel/hostel in a nice area with good public transportation (subway) access. Its just a few stops from the centre and sightseeing places.
