Hotel Mennicken  

We stayed in the apartment. Which was huge, Two big bedrooms with 2 single beds. Lovely big bathroom and a separate toilet with hanbasin. Lots of room and massive garden with pond. The breakfasts were good and freshly cooked eggs were on offer. Good dinner menu with a choice of food. Excellent hosts

It was a drive to the hotel for breakfast more than 800 metres.

The poor girl serving at the front desk was very friendly and caring, and clearly ashamed of the greed and unscrupulousness of her employers, making a stark contrast to the latter. I recommend her to find another employer.

1) While booking the apartment, it didn't mention that the apartment is actually at the other end of the town, thus you have to travel 2 kilometers to have (the included) breakfast at the hotel, or to check out. We ended up not having the breakfasts we had paid for. Double checking - this was indeed written in the small print style 'details' sections down below in the description, so these guys who read through every eula, certainly would have noticed it. 2) The apartment lacked the kitchen, or actually the kitchen was there but it was locked. 3) Once there, the owner of the hotel started insisting that we pay extra for our 2 kids, or else the kids should sleep in our bed, although there were enough beds for everyone. The booking confirmation clearly showed that the price is for 4 persons, and thus he reluctantly gave up the idea of pressing more money from us. Reaching to this conclusion took him 20 minutes of arguing with an employee of Booking.com over the telephone, while my family was waiting.

Good location for what we needed Nice hosts

Friendly owners, great rooms and food. High standard of cleanliness.

We need a night stop en route from Calais to Northern Germany and the Mennicken suited us perfectly, being only just over 3 hours from the Channel Tunnel. Very friendly and welcoming staff who don't speak much English but we were understood alright. Excellent dinner menu and breakfast, both of high quality, just what you need!

The hotel was beautifully clean. A blaze of colour thanks to the efforts of the boss. The breakfasts were more than sufficient and wholesome and the staff - especially Mike - were absolutely fantastic. Mike deserves a special mention because he went out of his way to assist us after my wife's accident resulting in a broken arm and cancellation of the remainder of the holiday. Nothing was too much trouble for him and we were most grateful.

We were surprised to find the hotel is not strictly in Wurselen.Our next disappointment was to learn that the hotel restaurant was closed throughout our stay. The third disappointment was the lack of availability of alternative restaurants in the area.

Good hotel - clean, modern with nice public areas and small but comfortable rooms. Best thing is the quirky little touches - the lift is decorated as a shower! Complete with tiles, curtain, shower head, soap dish (and soap), Downstairs ladies and gents have some interesting touches - you should go there and see for yourselves!! Breakfast was good and menu for the restaurant looked nice too, although we went to the house of 150 beers for a night out and ate there. Undercover parking was a bonus. Hotel is opposite tram tracks so getting in and out means going around the block - no problem with a sat-nav to help! Next to a fairly busy road but not noisy - good access from the motorway.

It was just off the motorway, on our route to Germany. Easy to find, with off-road free car parking, pleasant helpful staff both in reception and in the restaurant, where we enjoyed a very good evening meal. Excellent breakfast buffet. Our room was clean and comfortable, with a very wide range of tv channels. We liked it so much that we booked a room for our return journey home from Germany a week later!

Just one minor point; there is no lift, and our room was on the third floor. Next time we shall ask for a ground floor room!

At da vi skulle betale blev vi opkrævet 115 euro selvom vi havde en reservation der sagde 75 euro med morgenmad og så fik en lang søforklaring om det ene og andet med at der var tillæg for ekstra opredning og morgenmad for børn som slet ikke hang sammen - bondefangeri, i vores reservation står der direkte at det er for 4 personer med morgenmad til 75 euro og på hotellets hjemmeside står der at børn under 7 må sove gratis i forældres seng, der var kun 4 senge så jeg har svært ved at finde den ekstra opredning til nummer 5 - MEGA RINGE SERVICE

La proximité avec la ville de aachen à quelques minutes en voiture, le restaurant lorsque l'on rentre le soir en fin de journée pouvoir manger sur place c'est trés appréciable surtout l'hiver la carte est trés variée et c'est copieux les horaires des services pas de problème non plus, tout le personnel de l'hôtel (surprise du nombre) ont été trés gentil. Franchement rien à dire à recommander pour les visiteurs du marché de noël.

Gemäß Zusage hätten wir um 11:00 das Zimmer beziehen können! Wir kamen 11:30 und warteten bis 12:00 auf Kosten einer Tasse Kaffee! Die Restaurantküche ist direkt amTreppenaufgang zu den Zimmern ( schlechter Lüftungsabzug wird durch offene Türen unterstützt). Hier wurden sehr früh Speisen zubereitet, deren Gerüche störend bis zu den Zimmern dringen und auch das Frühstück im Gastraum beeinträchtigten.

Op de moderne platte tv zijn via de sateliet zo'n 200 zenders te ontvangen. Er bleek geen lijst te zijn met kanaalnummers, ook vond ik het vreemd dat er zo dicht bij de Nederlandse en Belgische grens geen Nederlandse en Belgische zenders waren te ontvangen. Ik heb dat bij het uitchecken gezegd en men was blij dit te horen. De apparatuur was zeer onlangs vernieuwd, men zou dit direct ( laten) aanpassen.

Das hotel liegt äußerst verkehrsgünstig nur ca. 5 Autominuten von der Autobahn an der Hauptstraße. Dennoch ist in den Zimmern tagsüber kaum Verkehrslärm zu vernehmen. In der Nacht ist es sehr ruhig. Von der Autobahn selbst habe ich gar nichts bemerkt. Die Speisen in dem angeschlossenen Restaurant sind sehr gut, die Auswahl ist gut und auf jedenfall zu empfehlen. Von Vorteil ist der Parkplatz im Hof, der jedoch später am Abend wegen der Restaurantgäste schnell voll belegt sein kann. Im "Wintergarten" - ein Teil des Restaurants und zugleich der Frühstücksraum - darf abends geraucht werden, nicht jedoch während der Frühstückszeit.

Das Bett in unserem Zimmer bestand aus zwei nebeneinandergestellten Einzelbetten. Das kann, je nach Geschmack, von Vor- oder Nachteil sein.
