This privately run, 4-star hotel in Gangelt’s Medieval town centre offers rooms with a modern interior, indoor swimming pool and excellent spa facilities. The Dutch border is a 5-minute drive away. Each stylish, soundproofed room at the Mercator-Hotel features a relaxing seating area with satellite TV, electric kettle and minibar. All have free wired internet. A freshly prepared buffet breakfast, Rhineland specialities are served in the Mercator’s bright, spacious restaurant with ceiling-high windows. Guests can also take a drink in the wine cellar. Guests can spend time in the hot tub, relax in the sauna, or book a soothing massage. The sun terrace can be enjoyed in good weather. The spa area is closed on Sundays and Mondays. The historic city of Aachen is 35 km away. The surrounding countryside is perfect for relaxing nature walks, cycle tours and horse riding. De kamer was ruim en sfeervol. Badkamer goed. Uitzicht op oude kerk. Personeel vriendelijk en behulpzaam.Sauna en zwembadje aardig. De aankondiging dat Mercator in een Middeleeuws centrum van Gangelt ligt is zeer misleidend. Gangelt is een sfeerloos ongezellig dorp. Alleen de kerk is Middeleeeuws. Lounge en bar zijn steriel en ongezellig. Hotel te zakelijk, te weinig sfeer.

Goed hotel, keurige facilitieten, goed ontbijt, leuke ontspannen locatie. De kamers waren veel te warm, hier mist echt een airco. Ondanks dat de gordijnen dicht gezeten hadden was het minstens 25 graden op deze kamer en was slapen moeilijk! En dat is uiteindelijke toch waarvoor ik naar een hotel ga, om te slapen. In de winter zou ik het hotel wel aan andere gasten aanbevelen, in de zomer niet

This is a very nice hotel in a small German town. The room I stayed in was comfortable and well appointed. The dinner I had in the restaurant was outstanding. The restaurant was closed Monday evening and there was little available elsewhere in the town. Check-in closes at 2200 which could have caused me a problem had my flight been delayed only a little.

The environment is lovely, the hotel is very clean and well-kept, but the staff (reception, cleaning, restaurant, cooking) were exceptional.

The Staff! The staff were very accomodating and extremely helpful. Assisted with Internet access, including giving me lobby location suggestions where I could get the signal (unable to get connected from my room). As well provided suggestions for a bike rental location and shuttle service to Geilenkirchen on my departure. The Breakfast! Breakfast was delicious and gave a wide variety of choices...especially fresh fruit salad. I also utilized spa services for a massage which was excellent. Thank you!! Was unable to get Internet access in my room.

Vriendelijk personeel, overal zeer schoon, prima kamer, heerlijk ontbijt. Aanleiding om dit hotel te boeken, was wellness. Bij aankomst bleek dat 2 van de 3 dagen wellness dicht was. Bij reclamatie gaf hotel stellig aan dat dit op elke website wordt vermeld. Fout zou bij ons liggen. Bij thuiskomst gecheckt, is echt niet het geval. Klacht naar Booking.com volgt. Welkom was matig: niet welkom geheten, niet ingegaan op aangevraagde voorkeuren. Barman had 't zichtbaar en voelbaar druk, was niet bezig met hospitality (op andere momenten wel). Personeel is uitermate vriendelijk en correct. Wel reactief.
