The only thing I did not thoroughly enjoy about this place was the man who cleaned the rooms. I loved that he did his job well, but he practically refused to NOT clean our room! After arguing with him for several moments the first morning, we said, OK, go ahead and clean it (so we could get on our way). Turns out he removed my plastic water bottle off of the bedside table, which was pretty distressing to me, since 1) I was violated, and 2) drinking water is quite difficult to come by in Europe (compared to USA), so I had saved that bottle from the plane to use and then bring home as a souvenir (I don’t travel that often so it would have been nice to be reminded for a few weeks until I’d recycle it). I explained to the desk clerk it was taken, and she got me a new water bottle, saying he should not have done that and would talk to him. Each morning it was the same thing with him – we put out the Do Not Disturb sign on the door, but did not have much choice to *not* have our room cleaned. (I realize this is not a huge problem in the grand scheme of things, but for the cost, I found/find it concerning.)
Nearly everything! Location was close to the things we wanted to see/do in Frankfurt, Air Conditioning, breakfast was 4-star, and front desk staff was very helpful, available, and polite, and their English was good, one much better than the second. We were given a map of the near-by city when we arrived, and she pointed out several points of interest.
Breakfast was very good daily: array of pastries, hard rolls, high quality German meats, hard cooked eggs, yogurt, granola, fresh fruit, and a varying selection of 2-3 hot foods daily, including scrambled eggs, and either sausages, bacon, and stuffed mushrooms. Juices, milks, and assorted other delicacies that I didn't try and a nice coffee machine where we could choose espresso, latte, macchiato, etc. The dining room was on the lower level with a view and a door to the outside patio area. It was very pleasant in early August.
This is a smaller place with only a handful rooms in a quiet neighborhood. The view was pleasant, with no view of other buildings or roads out the back window, and a building just across the driveway out the side window. Our second floor room #8 overlooked the tree-lined small parking lot, and was very quiet. It was crisp and smartly laid-out with a clean tile floor, lightweight curtains, and a separate area for clothing/suitcase with several shallow drawers just outside the bathroom. Shower, sink, large mirror, very little counter space, shower soap and hand soap in wall dispensers were nice, as were the shampoo, conditioner, and lotion provided. The shower doors came together at the corner as many do in Europe, and while I was fine, larger people may find it a tight fit. We didn’t hear people on the stairway or in the hall. The entire place looks like it was quite well-done in the first place or was re-decorated recently: beautiful!
The AC was marvelous for me, coming to Frankfurt from USA and not yet accustomed to the humidity (I’m spoiled!).
