I visited Hamburg between 14-18 January as a solo traveler. I had booked Novum Norddeutcher Hof, but a few days before the trip I was called and told that it will be closed for renovations ,so they transferred me to Novum Style hotel in Steindam St. I feel so happy for this change!! The hotel is situated 4-5 minutes walk from Central Station on a street packed with Turkish Kebab shops, Arabian little grocers, casinos and some sex shops. I asked for a room high up and not in the front side and was given room 319 on the third floor looking at side street. The room was spacious enough for one person, with comfort bed, flat screen TV (just two English news channels) a little desk, enough space for your luggage and a very good shower room with powerful hot water and hair dryer .I slept four nights like a baby no sounds from the street, no doors banging, no sounds from adjacent rooms ..Breakfast is served on the ground floor and is a rich buffet with many kinds of ham, cheese, cereals, bread, eggs, no sausage though. .The hotel stuff were very polite, good English speakers, doing their best to serve me. Because of its proximity to the central station, the hotel is a perfect starting point to explore Hamburg, a really beautiful port city! As for “Red light district” comments of other reviewers, let us not exaggerate , nothing like that , the area is really safe and if you do not want to grab a cake you do not enter the pastry shop!!! If I finally add that I paid only 170 Euros for 4 nights, how can I not be so satisfied and not recommend this hotel to everybody?
The only disadvantage for me was that it was very hot inside.
