Staff was very friendly and helpful. Perfect location. Comfortable rooms. Great breakfasts.

Amenities:- soap, shampoo, tissues, could be better.

Beautifully-appointed room and en suite, large and comfortable bed. Quiet.

The excellent staff, cleanliness of our room, convenient location in the old town, historical character of the hotel.

We would like to make a couple of suggestions: include a mini bar in the room and a larger flat screen tv.

The position of the hotel is excellent (right in the middle of Freiburg, just steps away from the famous cathedral); staff is very kind and friendly; the rich "german style" breakfast is served in the nice restaurant on Munster Platz. Try the restaurant also for dinner, it servers excellent dishes!

The whole experience was great. A double room with an extra day room attached gave us lots of space. They had even placed ear plugs next to the bed because there was a cathedral in the square in front of the hotel and the church bells could keep you awake if you're a light sleeper. We really liked the old restaurant downstairs, a proper weinstube with a great atmosphere, a good menu and a wine list of 20 or 30 pages, all local wines, not a single French or new world wine. We had every meal there for three days.

This is Black Forest hospitality at its best, which comes with the second best hotel location in Freiburg - literally 1 min from the cathedral, in the vey centre of the old city. The breakfast buffet is excellent and plentiful, the decoration traditional and polished without being overdone. A special mention for the staff and the owners, who really care and let you feel welcome - and not just because they are freshly out of their newest crm seminar... If you don't mind their rather small size, the 'business rooms' with breakfast included are unbeatable value - anywhere in Western Europe. Like in any well-maintained Southern German, Swiss or Austrian hotel, the room, and espacially the bathroom, were spotless.

Like anywhere else on the right bank of the Rhine, the small-sized duvets will stay on the bed only if you manage to sleep without moving more than twice per night - with, if you are tall (I am) the option of either cold feet or a bare chest. Although being situated in the pedestrian zone, the hotel is actually accessible by car, but it is not too easy a procedure.

Despied of received road description and gps we had big problem to find this hotel.Small room and uncomfortable and hard matresses.

The staff was always friendly and helpful, and the room was always perfectly clean. I appreciated the fantastic central location and the style of the historical hotel.

The room was somewhat small and the cathedral bells sounded quite a bit - just to call that out to folks who might be bothered by that - but those things didn't bother me at all. I loved the room even though it was small - it was the perfect size for just me - and the cathedral bells actually added a lot of romance to the trip.

The hotel is in a great location.

No air-conditioning, the church bells are very loud, and the hotel is impossible to find with a GPS.

I stayed for a couple of days at the hotel, primarily to do some biking and hiking trips during the day and enjoy the city and good food and drinks in the evening. I could store my bike in the garage. The location is a big plus, right at downtown. All interesting places are walking distance from the hotel. The room is clean, functional, stylish and comfortable. Great breakfast. Friendly staff.

It was very warm in the period that I was there. Even though it was doable, an airconditioning would have been nice. Not a big issue for me though.

No ac very noisy for sleeping had to keep window open and heard everyones conversation as we faced the street. I didn't notice the earplugs in the drawer til the next morning very difficult to access the first time,even with directions

The staff were very friendly and helpful, our room was romantic and clean. The hotel is situated perfectly and everything is attainable by foot.

Did not really like the sinks in the room.

Traditional German hoatellerie, comfortable bed and sheets. It is right down town, right next to the cathedral, we came by car from colmar but the booking.com driving information was not accurate upon departure, when paying the bill, the manager insisted giving us mineral water ottles t bing with us and two bottles of local white wine ! we all felt very welcomed and would recomend this hotel: das it's Deutschland!

Cathedrale bells were ok for us but it could be a problem for others

This hotel is just beautiful. The look, the feel, the rooms are outstanding. Rooms bring you back into the past but the bathrooms are very modern. A great blend.

The hotel was very central and when we left we were given a bottle of water each for our journey and a complimentery bottle of wine

Excellent oldstyle but modernised hotel in the heart of Freiburg. Lovely room with good sound-proofing, very good restaurant with fine wine list. Friendly staff and gemutlich atosphere. Highly recommended

Location is unique and staff is very friendly

The hotel is in fact two different houses. We were in the back street, not on the cathedral side. The Internet was unaccessible and the room was kind of small. In the past, we also stayed in rooms on the cathedral side, and there the standard was definitely better.
