Staff was friendly and very accomodating. Gasthaus has excellent food if desiring to stay in, bottles of wine available for in room consumption if desired. Would recommend to anyone traveling to the area!
Where do we begin... 1 ) The location is excellent with both natural and man made beauty with the Bavarian Alps and the 1936 era architecture and historic '36 Olympic Ski Jump as the back drop. Near a variety of ski lifts, Partnach Gorge, the old town and the Bahnhof. 2) Beautiful rooms, spacious, clean, decorated in a traditional Bavarian furnishings and , of course historically, reminiscent. Advise researching history of building and the rooms with the balconies facing the Ski Jump. 3) Owner is such a kind, intelligent, warm and cool woman....makes you feel at home....makes the homemade best cakes, pies and jellies you will find any where...she alone makes you feel welcome....the breakfast is great and the lunch and dinner menu is excellent and affordable...suggest going for a traditional Bavarian dinner and entertainment(dancers and band) at the owners family restaurant called the Fraundorfer...good choice , as well, for a Bavarian social experience. 4) The staff are professional, friendly and helpful with suggestions for food, beer or tours like: the scenic train to Innsbruck , a nearby hike up to the Partnach Klamm (Partnach Gorge) or ski lessons. 5) The price was very reasonable and you won't find spacious rooms like this Europe...atleast as a rule. Overall, excellent stay (we spent the Christmas Holidays at the Olympiahaus) and would suggest it for singles, couples and families.....
Nothing negative to say....
The location was stunning. Backdrop of the mountains, patio walkout to view the ski jump. Room size was very large for European hotel room standards.
Wifi cut out a lot. Would only work in part of our room. There was no reception desk so it took a bit of time to find somone to talk to. (Reception is in the restaurant).
the old style hotel make us feel relax
The staff at olympiahaus were very accommodating. After all, you are staying in the old olympic stadium! I was emailed the day before my stay to ask about my arrival time. Because it was after hours of the front desk, they kindly taped an envelope to the door with my keys in it (very glad it wasn't stolen)! The room was clean and restful. The breakfast was a great spread which allowed me to eat and make lunch for myself later in the day. I was the only one in the restaurant and had the buffet spread to myself. In the lobby downstairs, you can see the renewed ski jump from the '36 Olympics that were held in garmisch. What a view with the mountains!
We love the location - at the foot of the big ski ramps. We enjoy having a beer at the garden looking to it. The breakfast was pretty good and the room was very nice.
Stayed a Sat night... big mistake! The party at the Bar (Right below our room) went on from 10pm to 4am. Staff at the hotel didn't seem to care about their hotel guest and let the party go on.
It was a good place to rest for couple of days, not one of the top, very close to Olympia stadium and sky jumps.
Breakfast wasn't that good (there is no variety of food like hot food, ( omelette or boiled eggs).
Great family room - three large rooms and the bathroom is a very good size. Breakfast always good. Have stayed at the Olympiahaus numerous times. Love the view of the ski jumps.
This was a great place and we loved the big comfortable room with the view right at the ski jump. Staff were nice. This place was better than we thought it would be.
Little bit far away from the Garmish train station (to go up to Zugspitze), but it was not a problem to drive there and it was nice to be on the outskirts of the main township.
It was nice to have a restaurant downstairs, if we wanted to have dinner here. Breakfast was good. Loved walking out back to explore the ski jumps and stadium.
Room a bit small, but comfortable.
It was near the Partnachtklamm which was where we began our hut hike the next morning.
Unique atmosphere. Close to Partnach gorge. Free bus into town with guest card. Excellent breakfast, useful to have on site restaurant.
Long way out of town. Free bus helped but not very frequent first thing in morning or in evening and did not connect well with e.g. Zugspitz train. Food a bit over salted and limited choice (fish on menu not available either evening).
The location was lovely. Staff was very good.
Great staff that were very accommodating and friendly
The breakfast was a bit lacking, typical European style but nothing hot, not even hard boiled eggs
Not sure if all the rooms in the hotel are as the one we stayed in, but ours was more like an apartment. Great big hallway leading to the dining/living/sleeping room (had a dining table and a coffee table and a couch) + there was a huge balcony facing directly at the olympic stadium and the ski jumping hills. Staff super friendly and helped with instructions where needed. Had both dinner and breakfast there and food was tasty and came quickly.
No WiFi (knew this in advance though already, so not really a thing to complain about)
I really liked the staff, the views, and the way the building and rooms were decorated. It was beautiful. The food was delicious also.
Very friendly staff. Perfect location just at the foot of the ski-jump stadium. Wonderful area to visit.
Slight grumble- there was a medium-sized hole in the bottom sheet on the bed. More noticeable as the sheet was yellow and the under-blanket white. Most surprised as otherwise the hotel was faultless.
We loved the staff and how great the hospitality was. The Gorge was only a 20 min walk at a leisure pace. And is something to see. The history of this property is very interesting. We will return.
The 3 bedroom apartment was HUGE. Bathroom was modern. Breakfast was Fantastic....Food at the restaurant was great. Beautiful balcony views of the Olympic stadium or mountains
No Wifi (kids) and no late check in....but would not deter me from recommending this hotel 120% to anyone.
Excelent location and a really nice and friendly staff. On of our favourites after traveling in the Alps for two weeks. Balcony view of the Garmich-Partenkirchen ski jump arena!
Olympiahaus is located at the base of a mountain, so a great jumping off point for hiking and biking. Also located next to a municipal bus stop that will take you all over town, including the train station and the Alpspitzbahn cable cars. The price for the bus is normally 6 Euro per day but Olympiahaus provides each guest with a visitor pass that gives you free access to the bus for the duration of your stay. This pass also gives many other discounts and advantages around town. Breakfast is included in the price of the room, and consisted of cereals, yogurt, breads, sliced meats, honey, jams, coffee juice and tea. Our room had a terrace overlooking the olympic ski jump and we watched the Austria team practice on a Saturday morning! Parking was also free for guests right in front of the Olympiahaus.
Can't say enough good things about this hotel. Location excellent. Staff friendly and helpful. Charming and historic building. Food absolutely magnificent! What other hotel has a historic ski venue in the back garden, to explore for free!
Nothing its brilliant!
I loved that I could walk out the door and hike. 15!minute walk to a lovely town. Good breakfast included.
Very spacious 3 bedroom space with lots of beds/couches and plenty of places to sit and relax. Large newly renovated bathroom. Very clean. Staff was friendly and helpful. Fun place to stay for kids. We even got to watch some ski jumpers practice on summer skis. Great location for Garmisch and surrounding area attractions.
No refrigerator or microwave available. One bathroom could get complicated with that many people but we were able to use the restroom for the restaurant downstairs so never encountered a problem.
