I am tall and broad across shoulders. The single bed was too small. Bedding came off my Feet and when I rolled, the rest of my body. Hence, hard to get a full night sleep. I requested a double as a request following my initial booking but it was not granted. I need to ensure in future that I only select a double bed as a minimum.
I did like this hotel with nice rooms and nice look. I expected a lower quality accomodation like an hostel, but I was surprised to see this big modern hotel. The room was nicely furnitured, the bathroom was large enough. And what's important, it's in a quiet locaiton and the S Bahn is in a minutes reach.
There is nothing I did not like, to be honest.
The location was brutal. Too far from the city centre. The town was quiet and nothing to do there. Just like a ghost town. No air conditioning in room. Too noisy so couldn't get to sleep. Price way too high. It's like a 3 star hotel charging 5 star prices!
Public transportation is right there.
Price for accommodations.
practical with connected parking house - 24 hour service - great breakfast
I book a double room but finally give me a single room, and said to me "I have no idea to change for you".
Sleeping sofa is very very hard and should not be used for sleeping.
The room was good, clean, the hotel staff friendly and competent, quite convenient for visiting the university nearby.
Lack of air conditioning in the bedrooms meant sleeping with window open, which meant being woken by early morning city noises. WiFi signal erratic.
- good breakfast - helpful staff - room service - room ready for us, with crib - parking fairly easy in the neighbourhood
- somewhat far from downtown Hamburg (but we did our research and knew this in advance, and we had a car) - neighbourhood not so nice
Not really a four-star hotel. Tends on the noisy side.
Old world charm, convenient to train and S-bahn, good value, surprisingly quiet.
We had no complaints
There was sattelite tv, though not all the channels were working, there were quite a few channels!
I can't believe this is a 4 star hotel! The facilities are extremely poor, there are criteria for 4 star hotels but only two of them has been fulfilled: the vanity mirror in the bathroom and the hairdryer. Even the hairdryer was poor as it was giving off a rather burnt smell after usage. There were no coffee/tea facilities in the rooms, not even a safe. No bathrobe or slippers, body lotion or bathtub. The shower was very small: obese people can't use these showers. There was no airconditioning: when we arrived at the hotel and entered our room, it was freezing cold in there. We had to search quite a bit to find a small heater underneath the dirty curtains. There was only one mirror in the room: a tall mirror that was near the door. There was no other mirror, which is very inconvenient when you're in a room with 2 women and one is in the bathroom: we need a mirror with a table near, where we can stack up our makeup and such. They could've easily put such a mirror near the desk! The pillows were filled with a few feathers and thus very small, not so very comfy! In fact, I warned my roommate to beware of suffocating danger. Then there's the breakfast. We went to this hotel, during Easter. However: there were no extra's. The buffet was very poor, we had to fight for a croissant as they'd only once in a while would replace the 6 croissants they had put up. They could've at least added some salad options or pancakes, yoghurt?! There was no hot chocolate and their coffee wasn't very good. Though the staff was very kind, there were only a few staff members who could speak and understand English. The location says Hamburg Harburg. Though this is 20 minutes by train from Hamburg itself, it is not a very pleasant place to reside. It's like the ghetto area of Hamburg. You won't feel comfortable parking your car outside of a parking garage.
situation friendliness of staff breakfast
Location was good for my business trip. Staff were friendly and the hotel was clean.
The beds were not comfortable and the bedding was not a very good quality. Amenities such as toiletries were below what I would expect in a hotel these days, no shampoo, lotions etc.
