눉Booked a Friday and Saturday well in advance, but due to unforeseen circumstances couldn't make it for the first night.
Realised we were obliged to pay both nights, but asked if the hotel would make a small "commercial gesture" and offer breakfast for free - we had, after all, brought an additional guest with us - and he got a better room rate than we did! Reception staff had no discretion on this and 'management' said "No"! Entirely their prerogative, but it would have been cheap, positive marketing for them, rather than leaving the impression they are mean and not very customer oriented.
There is a notice on the reception desk that offers the best deal to those who book direct. Our colleague booked last-minute, got a better rate and discounted breakfast as well as fruit and a bathrobe in his room. Maybe they just don't want clientele from booking.com. Maybe they are just a bit too mean.
눇This is a good hotel with nice common areas and reception lounge. The location is excellent for visiting the town of Trier, which is really quite special.
