Hotel Weinbauer is a traditional hotel peacefully and central in Schwangau, just under 1 mile from Neuschwanstein and Hohenschwangau Castles. Built in 1865, the cozy hotel is decorated with frescoes.
Score from 554 reviews Wonderful
Staff was friendly and helpful. The food was fantastic; very good value. We would certainly stay here again if we hire a car.
It was quite hard to get to and from this hotel. We couldn't discern when/where to catch the bus and cab ride to/from Füssen is €10, €21 to Neuschwanstein castle. If we had hired a car it would have been the perfect hotel for us.
Just a few metres from the SEE bus stop (Haltestelle) from Fuessen - just take the street next to the main road (empty except for some trees) to arrive at the first building which is the pension Carina. The staff is excellent: English and Italian speaking and very corteous. Very good foor is served too!
Payment is strictly in cash and 90 euros plus euro 4 city tax -£per night - was a bit excessive for this type of accommodation. You have to ask for the internet password.
Location. Friendly staff clean and comfortable
Menu could have been more varied More cereal variety at breakfast would have been good.
Location near a beautiful lake with hiking paths was very nice.
Nobody was at the facility when we arrived early evening but there was a phone number on the door...we didn't have intnl phone so had to ask a person in the parking lot if they could call for us. Soon the lights came on, and we were welcomed by the owner.
Location was good, country feeling, cow bells and all. Good food, service was excellent, owner made us an early breakfast as we had to leave early. Well done.
This is a clean, efficient facility with a country flair.
I would have preferred to be closer to the castles we went to visit but this was a satisfactory stay.
Good location ，5 minute to walk to the lake ,good restaurant but the staff a little bit strange maybe she was tired. You should tasting the traditional food.
Room not receive unlimited network signal, no electric kettle, no curtains.
Breakfast was awesome. The view - fantastic. The size of the room and the bathroom was great!
OK - when we booked we knew it was a location that only had a 2 star rating, however... The bed - it was so creaky that the second night we took the mattresses out and put them on the floor. The pillow was so huge it was uncomfortable. NOISE - The walls between the rooms are not soundproofed at all. We also had a peeping Tom. The wall between the upper floor rooms on the balcony is a piece of painted plywood that allowed the next room occupants to look over into our room! We were also SURPRISED that we had to pay for the room in cash! Good thing the tourist center was open!
We stayed at this hotel for two nights when visiting Fussen. It is a lovely hotel on a quiet street with beautiful views across the lake with the Alps in the background. The staff were extremely helpful and the food of good quality, both for dinner and breakfast. The rooms were spacious and clean, although if you don't like stairs there is not a lift at this venue. It was a 5-minute drive into Fussen and handy for other local attractions.
Not really a complaint but if you did not like pork you would be very limited on your evening meal choice.
Comfortable room. Quiet situation and convenient location.Breakfast was good
Lovely location, our room was very large, clean, huge closet space and modern bathroom- actually the nicest room of our trip. Innkeeper welcoming, helpful and friendly.
Very dark coming back to inn after 9 pm. More lighting would improve.
Very clean and quaint.
A good nights like and overlooking the lake. Listening to the cows bells ringing. The view before the thunderstorms arrived.
It's location. It takes ten minutes by car to Fussen so it's location description is a bit misleading. It's just a little bit isolated. Also we found the waitress rather.....well, strange to say the least. It was difficult to get her attention and she came across as emm.....strange.
A wonderful little pension with friendly staff ,overlooking wiessen see. A wonderful vista of the mountains. The food served in the restaurant is typical hearty food of the area ,but very tasty. Very busy all day but no problem getting a table. Roads in the area are great if like us you are touring on a motorcycle. Local buses are great for visiting Fussen or the castles .
We have been lucky on both our visits to have enjoyed hot weather. However ,the rooms are not air conditioned and were a little warm at night. One improvement would be if fans were available to rent to create a little draft.( we would still visit again without fans)
Easy to find, not in town. Woke up to cows mooing in the field behind the Pension. The third floor room was spacious and my daughter's bed was tucked away in her own "room" area for privacy. We arrived late after a full day of castles, but they had prepared for that. Bathroom had a skylight that opened for fresh air. Breakfast was excellent; the perfectly fried eggs were delivered to our table, not from the buffet. There is a lake right across the road.
It was all good; WiFi was spotty in some areas of the room but overall had decent coverage.
Good breakfast. Great restaurant, too. Large room, comfortable bed. Nice quiet location.
Great setting and excellent hosts
The rooms and the surrondings. Breakfast was also good.
As Carina is outside a village you kind of find it easy to decide to have your dinner in their restaurant as we did which turned out to be a huge mistake. It was a sunday, we had been driving from Italy the whole day. We ordered our food at 1910 and got it 2030 and then we had to wait for the menu 30 minutes prior to that. We ordered schnitzel and fries, nothing difficult. The food arrived one plate at the time with 10 minutes in between. We got no excuse or anything. Our children were the ones for whom it was the worst. I regret being to well behaved not to have complaint more than I did. The waitress had a really bad cold as well which was less of an appetizer. Sleep here is ok but dont eat dinner here unless you arrive to the restaurant stuffed.
Excellent lakeside walk across the road.
Very nice staff, good food at dinner and at breakfast. Nice room with a beautiful view of the lake from the balcony. Just a little expensive for a 2 star pension.
Good breakfast, friendly
To expensive for being that far away from main town. Nothing else around it that was close, if you did not have a car.
Good size room with a balcony. Friendly staff
very nice and comfy room, helpful stuff. Excellent dinner, big portion and tasty. By car to go to the castles is easy.
Everything is good. Just in case you need hot tea, bringing your own kettle would be handy.
It is a cute and clean smaller "pension" as they are called in Germany with just seven rooms. Furnishings and bathroom were very up to date and clean. The shower was wonderful! We had the triple room on the back side of the third floor: no view but quieter. Lots of smaller windows that can be opened for air, including a skylight in the bathroom. The third bed, which our adult daughter used, was in its own alcove with nightstand and window and gave for her some privacy. Large flat screen TV and wireless internet all over the hotel. The proprietor was very nice and personally served us breakfast in the morning. Cute Bavarian style dining room in the front of the first floor of the hotel, with outdoor seating as well. The room includes breakfast: we were given scrambled eggs, tea or coffee, and a carafe of grapefruit juice at our table, and there was a buffet with an assortment of breads, cereal, fruit, yogurt, cheeses and cold meats. You have to pay for your room with cash but there is an ATM a few doors down that will take your debit card.
Although the rooms and public areas have wireless internet, it was spotty--at least on the third floor, we had to sit in the right spot to get it to stay connected. The third floor has some sloped ceilings which others have complained about. But they are not really a problem if you look where you are going! The worst part of our stay was hauling our bags up two flights of stairs to get to the third floor.
hotel portion was great!
poor breakfast spread AND dinner at hotel restaurant was absolutely horrible!..will NOT go there again!
