John and Irina were born to be hosts. The pension is new and clean and had a great view and is located near hundreds of outdoor activities, look up the town to find out more. John is a cook extraordinaire. Each dish was something you would have paid dearly for in a 5 star restaurant. And you get the commentary of the multilingual cook with the deal. The whole roast suckling pig on Saturday night maybe outran the Croatian roast meat dish or the veal with mushroom sauce the other nights, but not by much. Breakfasts are custom and far from the normal B&B fare-- far, far. We heartily endorse this place as a unique experience.
The owner John was extremely friendly and speaks fluent German and English. Since we were a group of young people wanted to party it up a bit. John was so friendly to allow us to use the comfortable community room as well as the sauna for as long into the night as we wanted! We loved the beautiful outside area in the backyard with a fireplace, which created the perfect atmosphere for late night conversations . Everything was super clean, pretty, friendly and uncomplicated. Definitely one of the best stays we have ever had - and we travel a lot!
This pension is located in a very good location for a restful weekend. John, the owner, was very helpful in giving us recommendations for places to visit nearby on our weekend away. We fully enjoyed our stay. John personally attends to every ones needs. We had a wonderful Breakfast that was personally prepared by John with ingredients he personally harvested in the nearby forest. I would have no problem recommending this pension to anybody.
The room we were given was fairly dated. We were told that portion of the building is scheduled to be renovated soon.
We wanted a quiet getaway from our busy schedules and this place was perfect! John is a very nice and friendly host! He prepared some yummy scrambled eggs with mushrooms for us for breakfast! :-) We will surely want to visit this place again!!!
Very friendly, good breakfast, we got a tasty and FREE barbecue!
The wifi was sometimes really slow
Friendly and very helpful, secure bicycle parking, bicycle cleaning. Excellent breakfast and dinners.
Very helpful owner of pension, gave good advises on attractions in the area, good facilities (bbq in garden, room with balkony and good view), invitation for welcome drink. Availability of drinks to take from fridge. Definitely to recommend to people touring in the area !
Weather [ :-)) ] it started raining in the evening, continueung all next day
What a splendid trip this was, the owners were a delightful couple and really made us feel welcome and comfortable at all times. The food was absolutely delicious! Traditional pork knuckle one night and a special dinner of rare delicacies another night. My girlfriend and I stayed for three nights to explore the surrounding area on foot and John haloed us plan a route each day, recommending great spots for that particular weather. Would be delighted to return. Possibly my best holiday in 10 years. If not longer.
We had a great time at Pension Elan and we were disappointed that we'd already booked the second night over the road at the Pension Sonneneck (which is also nice but not as friendly or good as Pension Elan). Really bright, modern, clean and comfortable room with a nice large balcony with great views of the Grosse Arber. Finnish sauna included in the already very reasonable price. Attention to detail - greeting gifts of chocolates and a small schnapps as well as a full set of bike tools in the garage. THE FOOD! Breakfast was delicious especially the omelette made from mushrooms picked from the forest by the owners. We were also lucky enough to have dinner in the garden, John is a wonderful chef and both he and Irina are great hosts. It's worth staying here just for the food (and people do, apparently). What really makes this place is the owners, they're incredibly friendly and you can tell that they really enjoy running the Pension. We'll be returning as soon as time allows, either to cycle or ski - but definitely to eat and have a great time.
Very friendly family run hotel. Great rooms with a view! Very nice breakfast with local products!
If you want to have home-feel atmosphere there is no better place than Pension Elan, with friendly owners John and Ira who cater to your every need. The apartmants are cozy and clean. If you are new to the area ask John for tips for the trip. And if you are lucky there will be weekend grilling and headache afterwards (that part is little bit unlucky:)
Welcoming owners Nicely refurbished interior and exterior Calm location Nice dinner on request Breakfeast above average
Noise insulation of the chambers rather weak
