Everything about the hotel was excellent, but the town of Unkel
doesn't have a lot to offer apart from the Rhine promenade.
Warm atmosphere with very friendly and attentive staff. Very few of the
staff speak any English but that just added to the "German
experience" so it's not a complaint (the staff at reception do
speak English so there is someone to help out in case of any problems).
Very spacious, spotlessly clean room and bathroom. Super comfortable huge bed. Slept like a baby for the five nights there.
The location is lovely. The restaurant overlooks the Rhine so we enjoyed watching the river traffic of barges and cruise boats.
Fantastic breakfast. A wide range of eggs (prepared on order so freshly cooked, not kept warm for hours); excellent selection of meats and cheeses, smoked salmon, jams and three types of honey; cereals, yoghurts, etc. Wide range of juices from the local [Rabenhorst] producer. Range of delicious breads and pastries.
