It only takes a couple of minutes to get to the Baldeneysee by car.

A beautiful landscape with hills covered with forest surrounds the Baldeneysee, which is situated in the South of the city. The artificial lake is a pleasure to be beside, whether you are sightseeing during a holiday, an in-line skater or enjoying the possibilities which the water provides. It is a famous spot outside the boundaries of Essen. Many locals also like to relax here. By boat you will be able to enjoy the Baldeneysee and its marvelous surroundings in the best way possible.
The water is of major importance in Essen. The Sailing Week in Essen, which is an annual event starting early in September, offers exciting regattas and many activities and information on the art of sailing.

In just a couple of minutes walking you can find the 'Ruhrland', the 'Folkwang' museum and the 'Grugapark'.

Travel information

From the A52 (direction Essen), you take the exit 28 Essen-Rüttenscheid/Messe - then you must follow the Alfredstrasse and follow the signs "Messe". Then you go straight ahead and at the second junction you turn to the right to the Zweigertstrasse. Follow this road straight ahead and directly after you have passed the BAUHAUS you turn to the right into Rüttenscheider Platz; straight ahead is the Hedwigstrasse.
