The Ritter hotel is very bad and should not appear on the Booking.com
site, as it casts a serious doubt on the reliability of the site, for
the many reasons listed below.
1. First, it is extremely difficult to find and reach by car, since it is located in a pedestrian zone with absolutely no parking possibility anywhere in the neighborhood: on a Friday evening, I had to look almost 1 hour for a parking spot far away and lug my luggage under the rain.
2. Second, at check-in, there was no paper in the visa card terminal, and the nightman could not place a new paper roll. I proposed that he do it and charge my card the next morning at the check-out, but he bluntly refused and required me to pay in cash. As I had very few cash , I refused. Then he called on the phone the manager, who said to me either to pay cash or get stuffed. Very rude. As there was no other possibility, I payed the 42 Euro cash and got from the nightman a stamped invoice with the mention 'room 105, paid cash 42 Euros' in German. When leaving the hotel next Saturday morning at 9:25, there was absolutely nobody at the front desk for the check-out. I waited and looked around to no avail, and had to leave the key to room 105 in its pigeonhole marked room 105. I received later a Booking.com email saying that I had been marked NOSHOW ! Did they try to have the room paid twice ?
3. As to the room 105 itself: I had been deluded by the very misleading photographs on the site. The reality is that room 105 was the worst room ever! More like a bed in a dormitory in fact, 3 very narrow beds, cheap type. Extremely dirty carpeting with innumerable stains everywhere, old cathodic TV, extremely dark room, windows to view only a wall at a 5 feet distance, cannot see the sky, needs lighting at all time. More like a jailhouse cell ! Dirty old bathroom with broken bulb, dirty and smelly WC.
