Savoy Berlin  

Unfortunately I had to delay my trip by one Day due to heath reasons, and even though I Showed my hospital documents to the hotel Staff no gesture was made to reimburse the one Night.

I loved my little room on the 6th floor, directly across from Delphi Filmpalast with a view of the city beyond. Free high-speed internet via ethernet provided essential access with better security than wifi. Daily complimentary bottle of spring water and chocolates were a nice extra touch. Inclusive breakfast had something for everybody, and provided enough healthy calories to get one through the day. Dinner in restaurant was expensive, but delicious and ultimately a good value - just not for every day. Staff was very considerate and most competent. Finally, a very good sauna and cold bath. In sum, I was able to work, meet colleagues, and rest under ideal conditions for a successful 10-day stay.

Our room was very musty, strong smell of cigarettes, and seemed aged, a little shabby. Not what was indicated from the photo's on the web site, or the physical description. I would consider staying there again if it were an overnighter.

Very unsatisfactory bathroom. We complained about leaks from the bath when we released the plug, which meant water spilling over the floor. Nothing was done by the time of our leaving. The bathroom door needed renewing: it was impossible to use during the night without waiking partner. Inadequate shelf space for accessories etc for two people.

Location

The location didn't disappoint but the hotel was expensive and rather faded and in need of a face-lift, the breakfast buffet is way to expensive (19 euros per person). The whole hotell smells of tobacco, a large cigarr bar next to the reception, after a day your clothes smell, had a non smoking room ....

In a word - disappointing. We had requested a twin bedded room and we arrived to a four-poster double bed. We are two middle aged ladies who are friends only - not lovers!!!!!!! I selected the hotel for its past and reputation and also its location. The location didn't disappoint but the hotel was expensive and rather faded and in need of a face-lift. The staff were not very friendly and our room was changed grudgingly. We both loved Berlin (I'd been twice before) but I would never recommend the Savoy.

We wouldn't pay 16 euros for the breakfast. We had breakfast one day but then we went out.

Excellent central location near Tegel airport and trains, comfortable, friendly staff, great deal for the money.
