Score from 275 reviews Very good
Room was clean, WiFi good, parking good.
No controller for the TV.We were never able to view TV. Hotel said one of the previous guests must have stolen it. Had to ask for hairdrier and water glasses. Difficult to find any staff, who were not ever available after 21.00 and were not helpful. Breakfast very poor.
Para visitar los castillos es excelente la zona
El desayuno fue pobre
The view was great, the staff was kind and helpful, even if the reception was closed at 21.30 and didn't get the chance to request the wi-fi password that evening. The breakfast was also good.
We had shower and sink in the room, but the toilet was on the hallway, it was a common toilet for the entire floor. It should be emphasized that there is no toilet in the "Economy room". When you pay 75 Eur/room you don't expect to share the toilet.
Adorable place for a stay in Schwangau. Felt wonderful staying here after staying in hostels. Wifi was great, breakfast was good (breads and jams, fruit, sliced meats, yogurt, cereal, orange juice, coffee).
Tip: Be sure to get all of your information from reception because if everyone is checked in the staff may leave for the night
The location was perfect for us as we were travelling by car and in the region primarily to see Neuschwanstein Castle. Short distance to Fussen for any shopping requirements. Small room fitted our family of 5 quite well for one night and continental breakfast fine.
The curtains did not cover the windows, meaning lack of privacy at night for changing and let the light in during the day. Noise permeates rooms, so might be a consideration for light sleepers. We slept fine.
It is not possible to check in after 9:00pm as the staff must go home and leaves no body to take care of the hotel after 9:00pm. We rushed to the hotel at 8:00pm and found we had to take taxi to Fussen for dinner. Well, the taxi driver charged us more than normal and the restaurant charged us 6.8 Euro for 2 small bottle of "normal" water (actually just tape water). They only accept cash, so went to ATM and then returned to hotel. No hot water after 10:00pm. Need help? No body was available! The blanket was small and the pillow was thin. The curtains only cover 80% of the window. Horrible experience. If you want to see the castles, either to stay in the hotels where you can walk to the castles or stay in the hotels in the city center of Fussen. Don't stay in Hotel Schwansee. It is horrible.
It is located next to the castles which can be reached by foot. Large room and bathroom (superior double). Nice staff.
Tiene vista panoramica !!!
Within walking distance to the castles, clean, good breakfast. Easy parking.
Location, friendly atmosphere
Beds excessivly soft (maybe mattress replacement needed)
Welcoming and friendly.
Breakfast ok, but no eggs offered. No local produce, like bread , cheese, or meats.
Absolutely nothing. Went to the hotel next door to eat which was lovely, sadly we were not staying there.
Arrogant staff booking in. "Owner had lost license" therefore, no evening meal available" (one of the main reasons why we choose this hotel) Rooms, small, pokey and poor furnishings. Fixtures failing apart. Paper thin walls, could hear people in next room coughing all night. Breakfast was forgettable. Would not stay here again, even if paid to do so.
Nothing is available in walking distance after 9 pm. Room is too small for 4~5 people.
Location close to Neuschwanstein castle. Simple but clean.
The couple that run the place don't seem to have any passion for it and that shows. Service, breakfast could be better.
location was great...close to castles and restaurants....
we only stayed one night
Stunning castle views, scenery!
Weather was shocking for July - torrential rain and very cold temperature! Luck of the draw really!!
Staff very helpful and friendly, room spacious, breakfast lovely - bread so fresh, hot chocolate for two of us that don't drink tea/coffee/juice. Quiet location yet so close to the castles, Fussen village great for restaurants nearby.
Hairdryer would be nice but minor quibble.
The view of the castles was fantastic from two of three rooms we had. Breakfast was very good. Staff very friendly.
Ceilings were very low and angled. For taller people it was a problem. Lots of bumps on the head.
Nearness to castles
Advertised A La Carte restaurant but they have no licence so no meals available plus unable to buy a drink of any sort. We were told to use the hotel up the road but when it is pouring with rain it wasn't a great option. Exorbitant room price for what we had. This should be classed as a Pension not a HOTEL Would not recommend to anyone.
Location is near castels
Hotel doesn`t have lunch and dinner (near is Waldmann, there is perfect menu and kitchen).
No meals other than brekfast
Close to the castles. Excellent personel, good English
We were 4 persons:2 adults and 2 older children, so after the sofa for them to sleep was extended there was hardly a space left even if you wanted to reach the toilet. Promissed view of the beautiful castle may be was available from some upper room...
Rooms are very clean. And that is where the positive side of this review will end. The owner of this hotels behaviour is deplorable, stay at your own risk! All the other reviews on the internet here regarding his behavior are spot on. I wish id read here before booking. I have visited over 85 countries and 400 cities in my travels. This is by far the worst hotel experience I have had in any country, city, town anywhere, I would tell people to sleep in their car rather than enter this hotel. For your own sanity and safety if nothing else. The guy who owns /runs this place is a complete bully. On arrival I noted the the wifi was not working on all 3 of the devices I carry for work. After checking in I went back down stairs to reception and brought this to his attention. Well..... At that point I should have simply packed my bags and left. This guy ruined the first 2 days of my road trip with threats and bullying behaviour. I spend a good 2 hours on the telephone to the booking agent in the uk trying to sort it out. When they called him at the hotel ( he could not be reasoned with in person) he pretended not to speak English. Although he seemed to do fine with the language when he was yelling obscenities at me and slamming his fists down on the counter in refusal to reboot the wifi system as it would quote " take him a good 30 mins and why should he do that for me" Needless to say I travel for work, I did not have the wifi promised and I missed my deadline because of this guy. The following day I was heading into town ( this hotel is in a remote area) to get cash to pay my bill when he appeared behind my rental slammed his fists down on the trunk, and started yelling at me that I was not leaving. I explained that I was going to get cash from an atm in the nearby town of Fussen, I had been the night before, but the machine had been closed. He then proceeded to barricade me into his driveway by parking his car across the driveway so I could not leave.
We stayed there in July 2014. The “pension” is about 5 minutes away from the Castles. You can actually see the Neuschwanstein Castle from the hotel. The hotel room was clean and comfortable for a family of five. It had a small older tv. The breakfast was delicious: coffee, tea, juice, milk cereal, bread rolls, cheese, ham, and jams. The owner Mark is relatively nice and friendly. He was helpful when we asked him questions but he isn’t overly friendly in that he didn’t ask us anything about our travels or anything. Don’t show up after 10pm to check-in because no one will be there to open the door! This is a family run smaller hotel so there isn’t a 24hr front desk or anything like that. Mark is there only at breakfast, check-out and check-in times. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and would stay there again if we ever go back.
The bathroom was clean but the problem is that the water in the shower backs up because the drain is partially plugged. I tried to clear it by pulling on the plug but it is full of hair But we knew this because we’d read others had complained about it. So shower quickly and you are ok!
Each room has a list of "House Rules". These rules were insulting, they included what time our bedtime was and instructions not to slam the doors. The Rules implied you could be asked to leave if they are not observed. If the owners don't want the doors slammed, they should plane the doors so they are able to be shut without having to slam them. My mom left our bathroom light on overnight so that she could find the bathroom in the dark; the owner made us feel horrible the next morning at breakfast. He said that our room vent is directly above his room and because of our light/fan being left on, he could not sleep. He actually shook his fist at my mom, he appeared to be joking but my mom felt like crap (wonder why this wasn't on the House Rules?). This hotel is a Gast Haus, a normal person understands that the family that owns the house also lives there and would naturally be respectful. There were not even any drinking glasses in our rooms, but the owners lock the door between the rooms and the restaurant, so I had to go outside and go into the front door. They were not warm or asked if I needed anything else; they were busy with their kids, it was around 730pm. We were on a 14 day tour of Europe so we stayed in many hotels and we are a courteous family. This was our worst hotel and would not recommend it.
