Senats Hotel Köln  

Location and nice staff.

Very basic. Bad smell in both rooms (different smell in each!). No safe. No coffee-making facilities in rooms. Very little tourist info available in hotel. Internet access ridiculously expensive.

I booked three double room for myself and two girlfriends. The location for the Christmas Markets was perfect. Having the cathedral so close by was brilliant and we were also close to the superb shopping area. The staff were so helpful and polite, speaking excellent english which helped us! Our rooms were very comfortable and we thoroughly enjoyed breakfast. We would definitely recommend The Senats Hotel Koln.

The location was amazing... Less than 2 blocks from the Dom, train station, and tourist information office. Included breakfast was very good and the price was so cheap (76 euros for double room) for such a close place. The rooms were large and had a nice bathroom. Staff was extremely polite and helpful and spoke wonderful English. This place is close to shopping and lots of restaurants and bars too, all walking distance. I can't say anything bad about this place, I would definitely stay here again.

Location and possibilty to cancel my reservation after first night.

I did't like the hotel at all. First they advertise free internet than you get 1 hour free and next hour is 8 eur. I took comfort room that included free use of minibar. And there was 1 water, 1 limonade and 1 beer. Hotel had 4 stars 20 years ago. Today they can have enough guest just because of very good location so their goal is to get as much money from everyone since they know nobody will return. Upside was I was able to cancel my reservation after first night, so I changed my hotel and enyojed my stay in Cologne anyway. Avoid.

Good location - very handy for Koln Hbt train station on the Dom. Very nice buffet breakfast too

I do object to paying for internet at any hotel. The prices here are far too high - €14 for 3 hours. Also, I have stayed here many times over the past few years and the rooms are in need of renovation. The rooms are very clean and tidy tho.

My stay was made so comfortable by the staff since my luggage had been lost! They upgraded me to a junior suite and gave me a robe and slippers. I would most certainly return to the Senats and will recommend to anyone traveling to Cologne!

I liked that parking was available in an enclosed area and how close the hotel was to many sight seeing venues.

Overall, we enjoyed our hotel stay, however the bed in our room was quite uncomfortable. The mattress was very thin and not supported very well. I did not sleep very well that night and the next morning, both my husband and I had aching pain in our back and neck area.

The Senats Hotel is all we needed for our Köln Visit, its a basic hotel just somewhere for us to lay our heads after a day out in the city. If you want to do more than just sleep in it then stay somewhere else. The hotel receptionists were great. Rooms were clean, and included in the room price is a mini bar (great). Bathrooms had shower only, but included soaps, shampoos, conditioner and hair dryer. The hotel is very central to everything I.e 5-10 walk to either Köln train station or the main shopping streets or Köln Cathedral. It is an ideal base for all the Christmas markets. We will definately stay again.

We would have liked a tea tray in the room, but the free mini bar made up for that short coming. Although the bed was a double it was made up with single size sheets and quilt covers which was a bit annoying, (Other German hotels did similar we have stayed in, must the the German way) Breakfast was adequate, but I would have liked a bit more substance to the cooked menu.

I thought it was very good value for the money, Rooms were very clean and comfortable, Hotel was basic but could not complain because the price was very good and it was a very good location for the christmas markets.

Very conveniently situated city-centre hotel, close to main railway station, cathedral, shopping areas, bars and restaurants. Reception staff were very helpful and pleasant. Good value for money and well appointed.
