눉We were assured at the desk that the card we presented would not be charged but is only for holding til we pay at checkout (otherwise, we would have presented a different card-- but based on what we were told, we presented our small spending card). By surprise, it was charged (they like to use the term "temporary reserve hold"). Not only for the full amount of the stay, but for an additional 50 euros per night. Consequently, as I was likewise using this card around town, I was hit with overdraft fees of 37.50 per overdraft. This miscommunication on the side of the hotel was very expensive to us and the fees have remained for us to pay. The bank is not refunding these fees, despite that the hotel assured me that the bank would (how would they know-- they just wanted to appease me and let me eat the cost that their mis-spoke caused, which I am.. they could have offered something in compensation for their error, because I made them fully aware of it. Instead, they did not). Very unimpressed with the lack of common courtesy for how to deal with a mistake that they created, even as we were meticulous about asking so that we could determine whether to present the paying card or just a card for the sake of verifying validity. In my experience, this is the only hotel in Dresden that advertises here on booking.com and also in person upon check in that there will be no deposit held and that the customer can pay at checkout, but then charges without warning for the full amount, AND adds an extra 50 euros per night to that charge, but denies doing so via fancy language, at risk that guests will be double charged easily without notice if not paying close attention, but at the very least will pay overdrafts if not prepared. I typically use prefer for cards presented for small holds to not be those that are attached to all of my funds, but to smaller accounts.
눇Staff are friendly in general, however not willing to fairly resolve a problem when it is created by the mistake of the hotel.
