Shabby room which smelled of old. I Can not sleep because the window was on a street with a huge car traffic. I asked for another room. The receptionist told me that with this rate, it was impossible to change rooms. It is dishonest of not to write before on Booking. When I returned after dinner, the receptionist gave me an oral questionnaire to see if I was the person who occupied the room. Yet it was the same receptionist who made me the check-in 2 hours before (a German nostalgic atmosphere?) What to do? Get angry?

Stayed in a suite on the 16th floor with panoramic views of Berlin. Accomodation very good, staff very helpful, hearty breakfast sets you up for the day. Our second stay at the Sylter Hof would highly reccomend a suite.

Location close to Wittenbergplatz station, the ladies in the reception were particularly friendly and welcoming. Asking hotels guests to pay for the Wi-FI in 2011 is a shame and should be denounced. Two computers with internet access in the lobby were far too slow for convenient use. The breakfast offered a poor selection and is not worth the price. The standard single room was too small and the windows could not be opened with ease. During my last night I upgraded my stay to a superior double room that but I was asked to pay 10 euros extra compared to what was shown on Booking.com. However the reception reluctantly accepted the price advertised on booking.com.

Splendidly situated, a comfortable and friendly hotel at an unbeatable price. Varied and copious breakfast and a weekday luncheon buffet that must be one of the very best in Berlin; I have stayed here several times over the last few years and I shall return.

We got a free upgrade to suite. Large, comfortable, with all luxery. Impressive breakfast. Major bus 100 stops just in front of hotel. Own parking place for car.

Staff are very friendly and helpful - The location is good for the brandenburg gate, berlin wall, and the zoo - it was a good location. There was renovation work being done when i stayed there, the entire 5th floor had the carpet torn up, there was drilling at 8am in the morning, i thought this was very unprofessional - Close down the entire floor at some stage if work needs to be done. Maybe that was a once off though

The hotel is very good. It is near one of the central U-bahn stations and KDW shopping center. I chose this hotel first - because the location, second - price. The room was very comfortable, everything was clean. The staff is very friendly and helpful. As I came to make a city trip, I used the room mostly to sleep. Get up early, come back late. So it was really comfortable for my purposes. I didn't have breakfast in the hotel as I found a nice cafe round the corner. A good hotel for good money. The housemaids began to clean the rooms on my floor earlier than 9 o'clock, so all the noise they were making - didn't give any attempt to sleep more. Hopefully I didn't need it and got used. Doors close with loud slap, so even at night one can hear them. On the floors above was some kind of repair work which also started quiet early. Wi-fi in the rooms was 2 euro per hour.

+ Good breakfast in nice environment. + Good location. + Internet room free of charge. - Carpet in the room. - Staff a little bit discourteous and at bad mood at the lobby desk. - No evacuation plan/emergency instructions in the room.
