Dating from 1856, this 3-star hotel in Heidelberg offers spacious accommodations. It's in the center of the city, a 5-minute walk from the Neckartal-Odenwald Forest.
Score from 1068 reviews Excellent
The location of this hotel is really nice. One can walk from the hotel to every point of beauty and interest. Breakfast was fairly abundant.
The whole hotel is dirty, dark, unkempt and frankly very bad. The are old stains on the carpets, which are in desperate need of replacement. The reception is a little dark hole under the stairs. The furniture consists of odd bits and pieces, seemingly from flee markets. The muslin curtains in our room were black with age and dirt. The bathroom is so small, my husband had trouble moving around ( and no, he is not big, just tall). No close parking. Altogether, a bad experience.
Location is excellent Staff helpful Breakfast - good choice options
Decor looking a little tired. No lift to upper floors - tiring when carrying heavy suitcases
Location was excellent, room size great. Staff friendly and very helpful on arrival.
Ok, yes curtains could be darker, yes the noise outside can be heard. It is a University town so yes there will be noise from party goers. Get over it.
Great Staff. Great view of the old bridge. Great location for old town Heidelberg. Very clean. Good breakfast. Feel like I went back 100 years really great.
If you are old or out of shape there is no way you could climb up to the upper floors. All stairs and steep.
The location is excellence, just next to the old bridge
Location of the hotel is just a minute away from the beginning of the shopping zone and nearest Christmas market (there are many of them in Heidelberg). It is a great base for visiting the Castle. The price is very good. Be aware that the hotel is very old and that there is no soundproofing and no elevator. But, as a base for city exploring for a night or two is very good option (comparing the price with competition). Breakfast is basic but ok.
No tea and coffee facilities in the room. Our room had a very strange smell, it wasn't strong, but definitely wouldn't want to stay more than for one night.
The party lasted til after midnight. Sounded like fun in a college town. Too old to join in so we had to use our earplugs
Friendly staff. Comfortable facilities.
The night manager was not very helpful. Whenever I asked him a question he made me feel like I was imposing on him.
Great location, excellent breakfast, helpful, friendly staff.
Grubby curtains, faint smell of cigarette smoke in room, no elevator.
Very good location in the Old Town
Above and next to Bars and that means rowdy crowds which sometimes parties to 4am and keeps you up with excessive noise.
Friendly and helpful staff. Parking garage close by. Rooms were clean and comfortable with outlook over river.
Initial impression poor. Sited over large chinese restaurant with small reception desk at foot of stairs. Looks a bit shabby. Breakfast adequate but basic. We thought it overpriced compared with all the other hotels we used on a 3000km tour.
Location was outstanding!
Excellent value and location compared to the other hotels near the old square. The hotel was right on the river, minutes from the old square and shopping street and a 5 minute walk to the tram to the castle. Extremely friendly and helpful staff. We'll stay here again!
There was no shower, but a shower head hooked to a hose in a bath tub; it was do-able. The floor creaked, but not enough to warrant not staying. The breakfast was mediocre (no eggs), but it was better than nothing.
The availability of a safe place to park was a huge benefit. We were able to leave our car in the parking garage all day.
Close to city center
Whole facility needs to be refurbished/upgraded.
Excellent location right at the end of the old bridge. Good breakfast. Parking provided by the hotel down the street was essential. Close to all the old Heidelberg points of interest.
Breakfast was fine.
They do not have free wi-fi, which created a problem for us.
Car park close by. Close to all tourist activities and shopping.
No lift to 3rd floor.
The staff was very friendly and helpful. The location was good close to the old part of town, there were many restaurants and bars close by and it was not far to the castle.
The heating in the room did not work properly: I was unanble to turn it off and therefore the room was much too hot. Also, in the bathroom there was an unpleasant smell. The floor boards creaked veyr badly.
Hotel was quaint and absolutely in the middle of things. Parking is worth paying for. Although it is a bit of a hike to get to the garage it is along the river so pleasant. Nice breakfast. I lost a bracelet while I was there and although I didn't contact them until several days after our stay, they emailed me immediately that they had found it and returned it to me by mail.
No internet service. Their sister hotel does have service in the restaurant so you can go there, but on a busy night there is no table available.
very clean room, friendly staff that communicated in english without a problem which was great as this was the first stop on arrival after a sleepless overnight flight. great location.
breakfast included only if in main building not in annex.
Really was not happy with this hotel. It was clean, but just not a great place.
