Kassel was a nice town, definitely a nice place to visit. Location of the hotel was good for me I was on a course I could walk to the venue from there. I had looked on a map before I booked. They had off road parking but very limited space. Initially staff seemed friendly. The bed was reasonably comfortable although not the French bed that was advertised. They had a garden that I didn't venture into as it was too cold. The Staff stopped working 2 days after I arrived. I was booked to stay 5 days. It was like staying in the Marie Celeste. No one came to open the breakfast room for me and I had paid for it in advance. Breakfast the first two days was basic but adequate for my needs. Typical German menu, bread and cheese and meat not a big choice but quality was fair enough for price. However after the two days there was no way to get into the room where it was due to no staff. It was very inconvenient to have to locate breakfast before I started my course each day and I had not budget for this. Sunday it was very difficult no shops open then, I ended up with biscuits from my bag. My room was not cleaned either after second day for example an empty bottle I left next to the waste basket sat there 3 days. I had put the extra towels in a pile on the first night, they vanished the next day and so I had to use the same towel for 5 days not a big issue, but not the standard I expected at the price. The toilet was temperamental and I had to lift the top of the cistern to flush it, but I couldn't report this as no staff were in the building at all that I saw, and certain not at the times advertised. The TV did not work, the remote had no batteries and the aerial lead was missing. I did tell them this when I was asked if my room was OK on day two, they promised to sort it out, but it was still not working when I left. The radiator was hot, but due to height of the building it made a whooshing noise even if turned off as clearly the pump needed to push water at force. It was very loud if left on and as it was well below 0. I needed it on, this kept me awake as I am not a heavy sleeper. When I attempted to check out no one was around to give the key to. In the end I put it in the post box. I got the lady running my course to ring them and explain this.

The staff was very friendly, we liked the Garden! The top appartment was very quiet. The kitchen was very useful! Only three free parking places in front of the Hotel, if you are staying in one of the top rooms: it's a long way up!

I arrived late and had to collect my key from a safe box outside the door. I'd been given a code to enter but found the number dials unreadable in the dark! It took my 20 minutes to figure out.. with no-one around.

I enjoyed my stay at Villa Zandoli. The staff were friendly and helpful and the location was good for my daily visits to Documenta. My room on the fourth floor was a small single room and I appreciated the sitting room/kitchen to make tea and relax. My room was incredibly quiet.

The manager at Zandoli was very friendly and helpful in giving ideas about getting around the city and activities to do. She also put a key in the lock box outside so I could come outside of office hours. It is pretty near the train station (Hbf) - a 10-15 min walk and not too far from downtown sites.

I had a very nice stay at Villa Zandoli, staff were very friendly and very helpful. The room I stayed in was very spacious, bright, clean and comfortable. The location is quite good: there are shops and restaurants just around the corner and the centre is just a short walk away. The only little problem was the internet connection wasn't very stable.
