We stayed in the Green building Room 313 and in was the most amazing hotel room I have ever stayed in - on 4 levels, with a beautiful contemporary design over looking a little garden. We loved it. The staff was extremely helpful and kind. On one end of the block is a terrific street with cafe's & shops - in the other direction is the lake - great for walks. The train station is very close but not too near to be noisy. Their cafe had a charming garden. The internet was sometimes difficult to access, also they charged us for breakfast which was to be included - something I didn't catch until after I left since we were rushing to catch a train when we left. I am hoping they will resolve this - I would stay there again.

The location is very favorable, it is close to city center but away from the urban noise. The rooms are quite ok. I should admit that the breakfast was amazing, beyond our expectations. Staff is very helpful to solve problems and to give advice about attractions of the city. We surely will stay in this place again in our next trip to Hamburg. You should keep in mind that there is no elevator in the hotel, but hopefully we were in the first floor, so we didn't climb those stairs with heavy luggages. No reception after mid-night and we noticed that they turn the heating system off in the mid-night as well. Anyhow, I think that these are minor points that cannot bother you too much.

Location in an interesting and convenient neighborhood. Our room was up two full flights of stairs. Staff was helpful about getting heavy luggage into the room, but an elevator would be nice.

Interesting to live in a hotel room that was actually a flat. Basic problem: no lift. That is a severe drawback for elderly people and the handicapped. It reduces the facilities and comfort evaluation.

First, the hotel is a 3 minute walk from the AußenAlster, a 5 minute walk from the Hauptbahnhof, and is in St. Georg area which is very bio & eco friendly & therefore a little "bohemian", and judging from the amount of renovation construction happening, is only going to get nicer. The floor plan of the rooms is wonderful, not just a box -- this (along with favorable reviews) was the major reason we chose Wedina. Our room was in the Green House had a sleeping loft upstairs and a sitting area, office, and kitchen downstairs. I wake up early and putter, which causes major problems with other family members in traditional single-box rooms; this room was the perfect layout for us. The windows are huge and can open all the way; ours looked upon several mature trees in a small garden and was very green with lots of birds. In addition to a two-"burner" inductive stovetop and refrigerator, there was a Nespresso coffee machine that made the most excellent coffee, with more pods available at the front desk, for less than they cost in stores (a huge Nespresso store is on Neuwallstraße) . The breakfasts were delicious, with a wide variety of choices, including pickled herring, smoked trout, four different cheeses, ten different kinds of bread, cherry tomatoes, fresh fruit, jams, honey, corn flakes, muesli (with seven different fruits, nuts, seeds to add to your bowl), yogurt, sliced deli meats, and several different kinds of espresso coffees (macchiatto has the most shots and there is also a simple pot of brewed coffee available for minimalists). The teas are special blends, the Assam is highly reviewed (but is not my cup of tea), but the house green tea and the Earl Gray were superb. Finally, boiled eggs are available, but must be requested, since they don't have any way to keep them warm. If you like a harder egg, let them know, or let it set for a few minutes before breaking the shell. The only thing that was not perfect was that unless you book a room for a month, the stovetop and cooking utensils are not made available, so remember to bring a corkscrew. This, in addition to no microwave, made it difficult to warm milk for use with the wonderful Nespresso coffee machine. When we booked we planned to cook some meals in the room to save money, as we had never been to Hamburg and our dining experiences in Brussels and Iceland were brutally expensive. We were very pleasantly surprised to find how relatively inexpensive it is to eat out in Hamburg. There is a great local eatery called "Frau Möller", a 30 second walk from the Red House (go right when you exit). It has a simple menu and the goulash is some of the best I have ever tasted. The locals eat here and it is always busy, which tells you a lot. The Frikadellen mit Spiegelei ü Bratkartoffeln appears to be the most popular meal choice; it will definitely fill you up without breaking the bank.

A hotel with style and relaxed atmosphere. It is easy to have conversations with other guests in this hotel. No complains. I am not sure if the hotel has an elevator - I did not find one. If they do not, it should be mentioned on the booking.com-page.

Phenomenal staff. Great location. Request a non-smoking floor. We requested a non-smoking room, but on our arrival we were shown a room that was non-smoking but on a smoking floor. Smell of cigarettes very strong. But as soon as we requested something else, the staff showed us a room on a non-smoking floor. It was fantastic.

The friendly helpful staff, beautiful outdoor courtyard and proximity to restaurants and public transport were great. Although this is shown on the website, there is no lift available and guests need to be able to walk up to 3 floors by stairs. Friendly staff assisted with carrying bags.

We stayed here in July 2011 in the red building. This hotel is ideally located for a short trip. It is located within a 10min walking distance to the inner city and the lake is just around the corner. The staff are friendly and the breakfast is a plentiful variety of organic German cold meats and cheeses etc. Once you get used to parking the car by driving into a lift and going underground, you can walk just about anywhere and know that the car is safe. This is a fairly inexpensive hotel, so one can't expect too much. Be prepared for the older style of the rooms and building, and the lack of air con. There is no lift so if you get a room on the 3rd floor, be prepared to carry your bags up the stairs. In saying this, though, it was lovely and quiet up there which is exactly what we asked for, and it had a lovely view of the garden. The beds are not the comfiest - a little too soft.

I booked Standard Double Room for single use, got single room which did not look like hotel room at all - the only room near the breakfast hall / bar, narrow, stupidly placed old furniture (e.g. bedhead against the heater). Staff did not even explained this downgrade, no excuses or anything, just kept saying that it is a double, just with one bed removed (although there's no way you can make double out of that room). To get some normal sleep had to pay to upgrade the room. While the new room was quite ok and staff behaviour changed, it is still absolutely not nice approach to service and I would not recommend this hotel.

The staff were welcoming and spoke excellent English. It was easy to locate the hotel, which provided very secure parking (though it was challenging parking a medium to large size car in the special garage! The double bed is in fact two single beds pushed together- though this might have been my fauld for not being more specific in my booking request.

The organic breakfast was a very nice touch! They had a good selection of cheeses, breads, meats, spreads, and juices, also fruit salad, cereal, and coffee to order. Also, it was nice that you could borrow their bikes, and they also have a luggage storage room. The literature theme also made it quite a unique place. We were in the blue house and had a nice balcony, and great water pressure! The room was very quiet and charming. The location was nice, very close to the lake, and a short walk to the Hauptbahnhof. It worked out perfectly for our needs! The free WiFi was appreciated, but you had to have access to your email to set up your free account for it.
