Hotel Wedina an der Alster    

La posizione è ottima, a pochissimi minuti a piedi dalla stazione e vicinissimo al lago.

Il prezzo era buono, perché abbiamo trovato un'offerta, ma la camera era letteralmente un sottoscala. Ci rendiamo conto che avevamo pagato relativamente poco, ma fare un'offerta non significa adibire a camere spazi di servizio facendoli pagare di meno.

l'hotel è bello, confortevole, ed offre un'ottima posizione rispetto al centro città; lo staff è veramente gentile. La pulizia ed il decoro sono ad un livello più che buono. Il breakfast è di tutto rispetto, vario ed abbondante. Insomma, lo consiglio ai giovani e meno giovani come noi ( siamo una coppia sposata da 39 anni ).

Ottima la colazione servita in veranda. Camera pulita e confortevole. Posizione vicino al centro, raggiungibile a piedi in 10 minuti, ma in zona tranquilla e poco trafficata.

The area was very nice and we could find lots of nice restanrants. It was also very closed to the central station. The hotel has gorgeous inner garden where you can have breakfast (we couldn't do it as it was raining though) and cozy lobby with lots of good books. The room was very clean and comfortable. The time flame for breakfast and check out was also relaxed so we could take good time in the morning.

It was not so sound proof room so we could hear noise from the corridor in the morning.

Overall design. Three level apartment. excellent staff. Excellent breakfast. Wonderful welcome with fruit/cake/coffee/water.

Too many stairs with suitcases. But we are travelling for 6 weeks so a lot of luggage.

The hotel is in a great location - just 10 mins walk from the Hauptbahnhof and 100 metres from the Aussenalster with terrific paths through the parkland. It is in the St Georg quarter of the city with a good choice of bars and restaurants. Our room (Urban Style), which was in a building just down from the main block, was spacious, clean and comfortable with good bathroom facilities. All the staff were great and the breakfast was excellent with a good choice of quality breads, meats, cheeses, preserves and a boiled egg on request. This will set you up for the day's sightseeing! Highly recommended.

It feels more like a bed-and-breakfast with unique rooms and a very friendly and personal staff. Great to have bikes for rentals and bus No. 6 to the central train station and shopping district - a discovery we made after arrival.

I would have to stay there longer to think of a real negative

Very beautiful modern hotel. The "room" I had on the other side of the street was more like a complete appartment with kitchen, living, balcony, bath and bedroom in 4 different layers. Very friendly helpful staff, who have tips and guide you in and out of the parking. Breakfast not very large, but everything very fresh and delicious. Eccelent value for money! Definitely can recommend this hotel.

The location is excellent for seeing the sights of Hamburg. The hotel has character - things are a bit different, but it works very well. The staff were all extremely helpful - especially the girl at breakfast with the infinite supply of smiles. As others have mentioned, the breakfast is delightful and can be taken in the garden - which is so peaceful. A nice idea to have some fruit and water provided in the room on the first night.

The soundproofing of the room (in the blue house) could be better - probably not helped by the fire door on the landing always being open. There was some noise from the street in the early morning, but it is in a city so it was only reasonable.

Great atmosphere and most friendly staff.

The location in a very pleasant and lively area of Hamburg and close to the Alster. and the city center. Breakfast is very nice and people very friendly. And some welcoming gestures (fruit, water, poem)

The lack of lift can be a problem for some heavy suitcases.

I have been staying at the Hotel Wedina for many years - though never before across the road in the 'Blue Building'. It is extremely well situated in a quiet street behind the Hotel Atlantic, so well within walking distace of the Hauptbahnohof and Jungfernstieg. It is friendly & informal and somwhat eccentric. The breakfast room is more or less the same as it was when I discovered the Wedina in the 1970s. There are good books everywhere, which is an attraction. The breakfast buffet was very good.

Although the Wedina has been a favourite of mine for 40 years or more, I am thinking that it is about time that lifts/elevators were installed. After walking round the city most of the day, the last thing one wants is to be trudging up stone steps.to the 3rd floor (or is it the 4th?) In the Annex, across the road, the entrance and common areas inside are very shabby and unattractive - more like an old fashioned warehouse than a hotel. The rooms themselves are quite neat and attractive however. I susequently stayed in several other cities, including Vienna, staying in similar Hotels Garni/Pensions. In no case were their prices as high as at the Wedina. Bad point: my preloaded EuroTravel cum Master Card could not be processed, though I pointed out that Deutsche Bahn accepted it for all my journeys, merely signing instead of using pin.

Fantastic location, moments away from both bars and restaurants to the east and Lake Alster to the west. Terrific, helpful staff and excellent value for money with a fantastic and varied breakfast included. Funky, designy big rooms with only one downside: the metal and concrete design lends itself to easy noise transfer if you are fond of a lie-in!

Nice small hotel (with friendly staff) that is located near the Central Railway Station and Alster. We did enjoy and like our choise!

WiFi did not work well, at least in our room. No air conditioning - rooms might be quite warm in the summer?
