Winters Hotel Berlin Mitte Am Gendarmenmarkt  

The location was great. The hotel was spotless and clean and the staff very helpful. For a single traveller the twin room would be perfect. Great shower.

The twin room was tiny - really a single room with 2 beds perfectly fitted in but leaving no room to even open 2 small carry on suitcases. The shower was 'open plan' meaning the shower was frosted on one side but when you came out of the shower there was no space to change/dress discreetly! Do not go to this room is you have to share with a work colleague that you dont know well. Apparently the double rooms are bigger but this doesnt help unless you want to share a bed with a work colleague!

-Location is perfect. Next to Stadmitte underground. Walking distance form Check point Charlie, Friedrichstraße shopping street and Unter du Liden str. -Our Superior Double room was spacious (I had chosen this type of room due to the negative comments regarding the space of a Standard Double room) -Very warm and very quiet room -Clean and tidy -Overall a very good value for money

-The lobby bar is just the extension of the reception desk!! -Reception staff was lacking of basic hospitality manners (e.g. never smiling, they only greet if the customers greet them first) They also seemed to be reluctant to assist us in recommending sightseeings, restaurants, bars and clubs. -I still don' t understand why they did not give me any receipt during the check out both for the accomodation and the mini bar. -Generally I would advise to ask for receipts. Germans don' t give receipts unless you request.

Clean, practical and nice room. Wonderful with the black blinds you could adjust in front of the windows. Nice, clean bathroom. Great breakfast! The hotel is close to everything, it is easy to get to and from the airport.

It was in general good

The guy at the reception couldn't do anything we asked him to do and could only say "I have no clue, you have to ask someone else tomorrow", even for questions such as "do you have an iron" or "can we do a late check out?"

The Hotel was very clean, the rooms large and well appointed, the staff were friendly, helpful and all spoke excellent English.

The only thing that let the trip down for us was the fact that the beds were not that comfortable, and hence we didn't sleep very well.

The room was lovely, very clean and comfy with a nice bathroom. The service on arrival (at midnight for us) was excellent. Location was great, especially if you enjoy walking reasonable distances. There is also a metro station close by. Very close to Checkpoint Charlie and the Brandenburg Gate

Unfortunately our room had a light on the outer wall of the hotel right by the window so there was nothing we could do to darken the place, and this impacted the quality of sleep were able to get. Also, service was a little hit and miss, gentleman on arrival was great but another lady was rather rude.

Great spot all main attractions within easy walking distance. Rooms compact but have all you need including refrigerator which is unusual in Europe. New years day breakfast until 2pm very thoughtful!

Staff did not offer any suggestions about where to go. Had to ask for a map and then ask again to be shown where we were on the map. Hotel is very modern to the point of being a bit sterile when compared to the beautiful old Berlin but this is minor.

Location and service was perfect

I liked the location above all and the breakfast buffet that is absolutely spoiling the guests and has the variety of diverse food. The rooms are comfortable and it was a very pleasant stay indeed.
