Right downtown, near the shops and muenster, but just around the corner is the Black Forest

The hotel has a very good restaurant.

Like everything in Switzerland, everything is expensive!

Nothing, everything was poor or below average.

Everything- Breakfast Menu, Staff Service, Basic amenities, bad Internet service. I had a Horrible time of my life, I had booked a Junior Suite but it felt like livng in a 2 star normal room with below average service.

Location, clean, quiet

Breakfast is excellent, the staff nice and friendly and the room very cozy.

As a person who does not speaks germany I find a problem comunicate with the staff about more complex information.

Nice small hotel in the middle of the town and quiet. Good restaurants all around.

Difficult to get to by car, my gps system couldn't find it directly because you actually have to park in a multi storage car park and then walk to it. Lovely restaurant in-house but very expensive.

Everything was great, the staff was very nice and friendly, the room was clean and comfy.Breakfast was excellent.

The main thing I didn't like is the fact it is written that all the rooms have wifi. And i reality, there was a big problem with the internet for the first day of my stay and when it finally appeared, the staff told me the connection can reach only to first floor and I was on the third so each time I wanted to use the net, I had to go down to the reception and sit there.

Staff was wonderful and the restaurant was first rate.

The Hotel zum Roten Bären is a splendid hotel in the heart of the undamaged old part of Freiburg-im-Breisgau. The hotel staff are particularly helpful, friendly and obliging. The atmosphere is good. We enjoyed our stay there very much, subject to the observations below, and would like to come again.

The hotel suffers from the following defects: a. The room (number 21) in which we stayed for three nights is furnished in a strange fashion. Among other things here is a lack of big drawers. The layout of the room, on two levels, is unsuitable. Two partially-hidden steps in it are actually dangerous. b. There is a lack of suitable common-space for hotel guests. No drawing room with comfortable chairs in which to have a coffee etc and no bar in which to entertain friends. The space upstairs on the first floor is not adequate or comfortable enough for this. c. The layout and decoration of the dining room is dull and uninspiring. That at Oberkirch’s Weinstube nearby, for example, is better - if a bit dark. Local acquaintances expressed similar criticisms. This is a lovely and friendly hotel. Please make it better before guests desert it.

Central location, historic athmosphere.

Clients has to get clear instructions, that to reach hotel's garage they have drive against trafic sighns. And it is allowed to hotel gests. Re. Breakfast: juise not fresh and diluted with water.

excellent location

Excellent city-center location. One of the oldest Inns (12th C) in Germany, yet well renovated with modern conveniences and comforts. Within the city's pedestrian - only zone, which you can access temporarily by car to unload. Though it offers on-site underground parking, this is difficult to access. Parking in the nearby parking garage (appr. 1 1/2 blocks away) is what I would recommend. The restaurant is also excellent, in a town full of good restaurants.

LLimited areas within the hotel with WiFi access.

Service and friendliness second to none!

Parking is available if pre-booked, but still no great problem as parking nearby available.

1.On the first day of my stay in the hotel my laptop was stolen!!! I came to settle in the hotel at 1.45 P.M. I left my suitcase in the reception and went for a walk to the city. I came back approximately at 6 P.M. and found out that my suitcase was still in the corridor near reception, so as I left it (and they had to take it to the special room of luggage storage). I went to my room and found out that there was no my laptop in the suitcase. I couldn’t believe that for a long time! The manager of the hotel just said to me: “There’re a lot of strangers in the hotel (they visit the hotel’s restaurant), we can’t follow everybody! Send us the cheque approving the laptop’s purchase and may be the hotel’s insurance company will give you back money”. 2.More about unconcern of the hotel’s staff. After cleaning the room housemaids leave the balcony door open. And this balcony is one for three or four rooms and it’s pass through: people can go downstairs on the first floor and upstairs on the next floor!!! Every day (8 days of my stay in the hotel) I had to write messages for housemaids, where I asked them not to leave the balcony door open! 3.There was no conditioner in my room. Instead of it there was a floor fan. It’s good that the weather wasn’t hot and the windows overlook the courtyard. 4.Several days in the morning (at 8 a.m.) I woke up because of noise and crash made by the hotel’s staff in the enclosed court. May be they loaded some boxes, may be they slammed some iron doors. And one morning they wimbled the walls.

Every thing was excelant ,restaurant may be the best in Freiburg reception at th hotel wonderful ,relay you feel you left your family.

friendly & in the center of town

In an excellent location in the historic part of Freiburg this hotel is a gem. The staff were beyond helpful especially getting us oriented and providing information on things to do and see. The rooms are simple and spotlessly clean and very quiet. We would have gladly stayed a few more days had we had the time.

Ottima qualità del ristorante (anche se un po caro). Tutti molto cordiali e sempre sorridenti.

Un po complesso l'accesso al Garage (NB quasi impossibile trovare parcheggio nelle vicinanze dell'albergo)

Die Lage ist grandios!

Hinweis zur Zufahrt in Tiefgarage ist äusserst fraglich, es geht durch die Fussgängerzone mit Einbahn.

Sehr schönes altes Haus im Stadtzentrum. Zimmer gemütlich und geräumig, Bäder schön renoviert. (wir hatten zwei Zimmer!). Die speziellen Leselampen bei den Betten waren super. Service freundlich und zuvorkommend, Frühstücksbuffet vielseitig, alles frisch. Wir kommen gerne wieder.

La qualité du traitement, encore à l'ancienne. Chambre avec un petit coin de jardin où le merle chantait

Estaba muy céntrico.

Anticuado, le falta una buena reforma. A pesar de reservar sitio en el parking del hotel tuvimos que ir a otro parking cercano público.

- Zentral gelegen in Altstadt - Sehr gutes Frühstuecksbuffet - Neue Führungsgeneration bringen sehr gute neue Impulse rein (Kompliment an die vorgängige Führung, dass man sie machen lässt)
