This hotel offers modern accommodations in a charming, historic building, just off a cobbled side street in the heart of lovely Freiburg im Breisgau, on the edge of the Black Forest.

In a 19th-century building beside Colombi Park, this 4-star hotel provides free use bikes and free Wi-Fi. Freiburg Minster is within a 5-minute walk of the property.
Score from 716 reviews Excellent
The inside. It is the most disappointing experience to enter the oldest hotel in Germany to find yourself in the room your parents had in 1983 in a summer resort in Almería, generous use of concrete in the structure included..
good location in old town
Parking is very difficult
Friendly staff, good breakfast, great location (welcome drink!), good sized rooms. Little garden area with wi-fi access. Close to tram.
It's pricey, although the entire town seemed to be sold out. Breakfast was 13E which seems a bit much, as well. Wi-fi in public areas only, but that is not too unusual.
The location The history Bedroom was good (but tied in a need of a good make-over) and the bathroom very good Breakfast was good
1980s decor Wifi only worked in reception and wasn't good. Furniture required re-covering No bar frig in the room. On our recent trip to Europe (4 weeks in France and Germany) our experience is that three star hotels have generally significantly improved over the past 5 years. This hotel was however the most expensive and the least impressive of all the hotels in which we stayed. This hotel had not improved over the past 5 years.
very awful wifi!!!
the location, the friendly personnel, has a very good restaurant
needs a little bit of refurbishment (carpet, shower), no wifi in our room
Very helpful and friendly staff. Central location. Beautiful building.
The car park was difficult to find because of the one way system and pedestrian only areas. Quite tricky to negotiate as well.
A very nice hotel with a fun and friendly staff. Very comfortable rooms
WiFi coverage in our room was non-existent. I had to go out to the hall. And I do wish that this hotel and others would include a light blanket instead of or in addition to those heavy comforters. Who needs those in August.
Amazing staff and historic hotel. Staff made this place feel comfortable and pleasant for all family. History was amazing and it was very spacious and modern
Booking . Com confirmed wrong bedding type for my family. Thankfully the hotel staff were excellent to help out and accomodate us comfortable even though mislead by booking.com
The brekfast was exellent!
Maybe a bit too litte staff , they are very busy at the reception.. Some jam happens at reception desk
The bedroom was beautiful and had a wet room en-suite
could have done with air conditioning during the time we were there.
Staff was very friendly and caring-breakfast was outstanding. I can highly recommend this place.
staff, restaurant and location.
No Wi-fi in rooms
We have stayed at this hotel several times and loved it. This time we were told we could not have breakfast outside even though there were tables and chairs out there and no-one else in the breakfast room, which was stuffy in the heat (we had always done this, by the way - it was never a problem). After much argument we were told OK but it would take 20 minutes to set the table. All very brusque and unfriendly. Not the place we knew.
Very cosy hotel. One can feel the long history in the atmosphere. Right at the heart of the old town, but not at the noisiest corner. I'll stay there again.
The front door key was missing from my keychain and no phone answered, caused a lot of trouble in the middle of the night. Wifi didn't work on the terrace, only at the restaurant inside.
I really enjoyed the mixture of modern facitlities in an ancient building. I was expecting something dark and pokey, but instead it was spacious and light inside. The inside courtyard was very pleasant. Breakfast was very good, but for the other meals I happened to eat out, so I can't comment on the cuisine.
Ringhotel zum Roten Bären was in a great area for shopping or sight seeing. Rooms were very comfortable Friendly and helpful staff
Having to hang out in the lobby to access wifi No other complaints, enjoyed my stay
Room very quiet and well appointed Staff very attentive and welcoming Locatrion central and well suited to my needs
The staff were very friendly, helping us plan our short excursion through the Black Forest. Location is good; the hotel is in the old town and a short walk to the main square. Loved the history of the hotel.
The arrangement of the furniture was rather strange, with the TV set smack in the middle of the room. The carpet and sofa looked old and worn.
Location - Hard to get to & find, but once you are there, it's in the heart of everything. Staff was very friendly, and accomodating.
Wi-Fi was sketchy...
great historic hotel in the old city center of Freiburg.
great location, friendly staff, comfortable room, great price quality ratio
only wifi access in the lobby, not in the room
The staff where really nice.
No wifi in room whatsoever though it is advertised as wifi everywhere We requested a toddler bed, which they did have but was 10 years old and as hard as a rock,so we had our toddler sleep in the bed with us. We had some fruit in the room for our baby and the next morning was covered in what was a nest of ants. It advertises a 4 star hotel but this is not the truth. No aircon made the room unbearably hot and impossible to sleep (we realise it was a very hot week in Freiburg)
Dirty rooms, no wifi at the second and third floor, too expensive
II liked the size of the room with sitting areas and the large bathroom. The architecture and historic beauty of the hotel.
Breakfast not included as most places we stayed and the variety of items wasn't as good. We had a room facing the street and the noise went on well into the early morning hours.
