Score from 82 reviews Very good
Hosts were really welcoming and very attentive. Breakfasts superb with a huge variety of fruit. Evening meals also excellent. Location was lovely - the beer garden alongside the river was really pretty.
The church bells at 6am!
Michael carried our bags up the stairs to our room which had good ensuite facilities and a large open roof deck accessed from our room which did allow a limited view of the river (as our room faced the rear street0. very good value accommodation, friendly and helpful hosts, we had a very good meal on one evening in their restaurant (and a good meal elsewhere in town the other night). Scilltag is an interesting town with four very varied but interesting museums.
Nothing, we enjoyed out two night stay and would be happy to return.
This was our second time staying here and I was just as wonderful as last time. The owners are very welcoming, friendly, and helpful. They even helped arrange for a birthday cake for my husband and son. The food at the restaurant is excellent. The breakfast included with the room was wonderful also with lots of fresh fruit and eggs and bacon made to order. This is a great, historic guesthouse in a quintessential Black Forest village. We will definitely be back for another visit! Thank you, Michael and Lisa!
We loved the location and the breakfast.
Could do with a bit of modernisation.
the boss is very friendly, he speaks perfect English, the restaurant is good and convenient, the food is ok. A old and typical German house with a few old objects .The double room is very big with livingroom and a kichen.
1. Very friendly owners. 2. Very nice location, next to the river. 3. A really nice beer garden - restaurant 4. Excellent food!!! Michael is a GREAT chef!!! 5. Shciltach is a very romantic and peaceful place in general.
The owners were very welcoming; the breakfasts a luxurious spread of foods from granola to cold meats, with hot fare provided on order. Dinners, not included in the room price, were also lovely--so good that we kept coming back rather than looking for other places to eat--and all cooked by owner Michael. And Schiltach is a gorgeous old hamlet in the middle of the Black Forest.
Great location for great walking. Fantastic hosts, so friendly and accommodating.
More bacon for breakfast please!
Very warm welcome; great breakfast with fresh berries and pastry.
You could hear other people using shower in their rooms.
Lovely Town, four very interesting museums. Michael and Lisa very attentive and friendly. Michel carried our suitcase up two storeys to our room, which was fine and had a large outdoor terrace facing to the rear and very useful for sitting out with a drink. Breakfast is included in the tariff, and included scrambled egg and a very good Buffett selection. We had a meal in the restaurant one night and it was very good and reasonably priced. Lisa even put a load of washing through her machine which was above the call of duty; she is American and they both speak reasonable English !, (joking)
Nothing really. We were happy to have selected the Gasthof
What a lovely hotel in a perfect setting and the friendliest welcome we have ever had. Schiltach really is one of the prettiest p!aces we have ever stayed. Drove to Baden Baden on the high road which was a very easy and scenic drive.
Room we stayed in was a bit on the small side but only a minor point as the setting was so lovely.
We had the best breakfast of our entire trip at this cute B & B. The owners speak excellent English, and were very kind and helpful. Schlitach was a very cute city. Our clean and otherwise normal room had a nice view of the town creek.
Fabulous location in a beautiful village situated in the middle of the memorable Black Forest
The food was great, and the people were so nice. We only mentioned that we were going zip-lining and the owner offered to drive us there so we didn't have to hike. When we walked in, she handed us the wifi password, and at breakfast there was a huge fruit spread AND we were asked if we wanted eggs and bacon with that, and how we'd like it cooked. It was in a beautiful location with a biergaten outside. Everything was clean and comfortable.
The room/bathroom were a little small, but welcome to Europe.
A lovely room in a beautiful location.
Very friendly and informative owners, Michael and Lisa. Breakfast to die for, beautiful location, easy to get around, nice evening meals.
What's not to like.
the hosts. they are very adorable.
Michael and Lisa running this owner operated guesthouse were very friendly and accommodating, going the extra mile to make our stay enjoyable. We were upgraded to the apartment which was lovely to have so much space after previous accommodation in small hotel rooms. We thoroughly enjoyed the home cooked meals and the plentiful European buffet breakfast with a variety of fresh fruit, meat, cheese and rolls. Schiltach was a very interesting and attractive town to stay in with the added attraction of hiking and exploring the Black Forrest.
Everything and about all the kindly owners Michael and Lisa
Beautiful town and the owner and his wife were very nice and accomodationg even offering to do our laundry, which we did tip him. The beer garden and river were very beautiful. Food was good, Our room was clean but our friends apt. was cold. This was in early June. Hard workers and very friendly...
Im sorry to say that the downstairs dining room could have been cleaned a bit better taken care of. Some dust on the floors and windowsils and a clean appearance would help. Change the plants in the windows etc. The owner and his wife are very nice but the picture on booking.com is not as it apears. Having said that many locals see to like it and the rooms seem to be full. The picturers of the owners are not current. Seeing the owner be the one who takes out the garbage, among other things, and be the cook is not a good thing. You hope he washes his hands. Hard workers however and very friendly.
Friendly, wonderful people. Great beer garden and the best German food.
We liked it all.
Amazing location, wonderful hosts and great food.5 nights in a beautiful town.
We ended up getting there very late and Michael opened the kitchen and cooked supper for us, felt like home!
Charming and friendly hosts, great food, in a great setting
Pleasant room. Good breakfast, plenty of fruit. Riverside terrace. Good house wines. Attentive service. Real soap.
Duvets (but we obtained blankets). Evening meals slightly disappointing. Unimaginative salads.
