Situated in a heritage listed warehouse building from 1787 in the heart of Copenhagen at one of the city´s most beautiful and fashionable addresses, with the Queen´s palace Amalienborg, as its closest neighbour.

The hotel is right on the waterfront where picturesque old schooners and yacht moor. Today, the original warehouse with its rustic charm, rough brick walls, great archways and 200-year old beams of Pomeranian pine sets the framework for modern hotel comfort.

Hotel information

More than 200 years have passed since the foundation stone was laid for what is now one of Copenhagen’s most exciting hotels. For centuries, this marvellous, now heritage listed, building has witnessed important historical events.

Since 2003 the extensive but gentle refurbishment raises the Admiral Hotel as one of Copenhagen’s most modern and distinctive hotels where rustic, old themes and elegant, new ideas form a symbiotic relationship.

One of the city’s most beautiful and fashionable addresses that shares waterfront views with its closest neighbour the Queen’s palace Amalienborg where picturesque old schooners and yacht moor.

All furnishings have been specifically designed for the hotel, whose equal is neither found inside nor outside Denmark’s borders.

Food & beverage

SALT restaurant is located in a 200-years-old listed, historical building. Large exposed beams frame the ceiling, interconnecting our times with past times when the building was a warehouse, as far back as the 1780s. The rustic, white-washed walls, big mirrors and simplistic blue and burgundy designer’s furniture all set off the ancient Pomeranian pine beams.

Architecture and concept were conceived in close cooperation with world-renowned restaurant and hotel designers Conran & Partners. The London company has designed restaurants in London, Paris, New York and Tokyo, and in January 2003 the SALT bar & restaurant in Copenhagen.

The décor they selected springs mainly from a desire to honour the magnificent structures and beams of the ancient warehouse. To this end, they designed the new elements in a modern style that creates striking contrasts to the old elements, and the resulting overall impression accentuates every feature of the restaurant, new and old.

Due to legislation SALT restaurant is now a non-smoking restaurant for guests at breakfast and lunch. In the evening SALT restaurant is divided into a smoking- and a non-smoking section.

In SALT restaurant you will find three different kinds of seawater salts.

Unfortunately there is no internet connection available in the restaurant.

Room information

The rustic and maritime atmosphere can be felt in the 200 years old hotel’s 366 rooms and suites, which have all been adapted to the original timber constructions of heavy Pomeranian pine. The solid teak furniture, custom designed for Admiral Hotel in cooperation with Trip Trap, makes the rooms much more than mere bedrooms. All furniture has teak gratings – or ship gratings. The teak gratings originate from shipbuilding, where they have been used for centuries to provide light below the decks of large sailing ships.

Terracotta-coloured, genuine Italian tiles clad the floors and walls of the hotel's modern and distinctive bathrooms, all with bath/shower and hair dryer

The beds have custom-designed top and bottom mattresses and are made up with high-quality, hypoallergenic duvets and pillows.

Area information

A recent crop of design-heavy hotels, restaurants and boutigues has turned the maritime city into one of Northern Europe's hippest leisure hangouts. Lack of in-room facilities (safe, coffee etc). Very poor state of bathroom - cleanliness and fittings. Meals not included when others in Cophenagen include breakfast and buffet dinner for less cost. Hotel is tading on its historic past and architecture rather than value for money

Very quiet rooms. Nice decoration. Very good breakfast. Clean.

1) very poor service from hotel staff, rude to customers (we were a group of 10 people and were forbidden to sit in the same breakfast room whereas the rooms were nearly empty; personnel was rude when we complained that the bedroom was not cleaned at 3pm and glasses in the mini-bar were disgusting (remains of an old smoothie in one glass)). 2) Room-service really hard to reach and food not good.

It's a beautiful hotel with a historie.

My room was opposite the elevator and the walls/door was not sound proof, i had quit some noice from people waiting for the elevator or coming out of the elevator.

Hotel's location is unique and makes the hotel to be a special place to stay in. Hotel's staff is super-friendly and ready to answer any questions about the city.It was great to have such a friendly staff - all the front desk members are excellent!

excellent waterfront location, really short walk to shops, cafes, tourist attractions; great wooden beams converted grain store and nautical atmosphere

sleep interrupted several nights by noisy 2 a.m. delivery trucks to front door of hotel (we were on the land side of the building); no tea/coffee making facility in room

Great location for good walks around the hotel and for access to main sight seeing area

Parking too expensive and rooms on 1st floor get a lot of noise from the Bar, We had to move rooms as we were not pleased and also gave up one room.
