Tim is very friendly and helpful, giving lots of information. And the
breakfast is very good. But apart from that…
He ruined what would otherwise have been a nice stay - in spite of a
number of shortfalls - for a couple of Euros. We left with a very bad
taste in our mouths.
First of all, the house is rundown. The stairs are not fit for a baby, and even for you, a misstep and you'd be tumbling down. There are no locks inside. Even though we didn't mind leaving our room open, it is a normal expectation to have a key to your room in the place you are staying. Especially when the owner says that it's a dangerous place and there had been break-ins.
More important, there was no proper double bed. As customers, it's our right to expect a double bed and, if not a double bed, at least two singles of the same size that can be attached in case. He should have specified in the description that a double bed is accessible via a ladder which is not suitable for the elderly or the young, or for anybody that is not very fit. At the floor level there is one big, high bed and a small, low teenager bed. So Mom ended up sleeping cramped in the tiny single bed with our daughter for her not to fall. We didn't complain, but it was very uncomfy and we just endured.
When we were checking out, Tim just said that we owed 305 Euros. Just like that, out of the blue. No breakdown, no bill. When we asked to see the account, we saw there was an extra 25 DKK (3,50 Euros) per night for our 2.5 year old daughter. We could not understand why, as our daughter did not use anything extra. We understand it was our mistake not to mention her while booking, but as we sleep in the same bed and do not need anything special or extra for her, we did not think of it. Okay, Tim brought a camp bed for her, that was nice of him, but we didn't use it and we would have told him there was no need had he said he'd be doing it.
Anyway, we took out 300 Euros, but we didn't have a 5 Euro bill. We had 2 more Euros in coins. Tim did not say “Ah okay, leave it, 300 is fine” as one would expect.
