Hotel Conde de Penalba  

Location is great in Old Santo Domingo.

Tv kept cutting off when Refrigerator door was opened. Staff said cable would be replaced.

- Location was excellent, zona colonial area was very pretty and well worth a visit - staff were very helpful - good view from balcony - wifi speed was good

- Building was old and very dated inside - rooms and bathroom could do with redecoration

Friendly, helpful staff. Clean room. Hotel is wonderfully decorated and had classic feel to it. Downstairs restaurant had a good atmosphere and excellent view of the Colon Park

A little noisy at night due to proximity to park.

Staff gave good service. Food good. Enjoyed the plaza

Room too small. Bed was awful. No amenities. Insufficient towels and the shower did not work well. Did not like the kind of business conducted both inside and outside the hotel cafe. Hotel should assist with parking. Hassel

Good value for the money and the location for my visit to the colonial zone of Santo Domingo is perfect.

It was not very clean-found hair in bathroom.

Right in the center of the Colonial district and across the plaza from the oldest cathedral in the Americas. Great view if you opt for a balcony (I recommend). Ice cold ac. Sat tv. Very clean rooms. Great restaurant and close by to all sorts of dining and shopping. Felt very safe roaming the area alone even past midnight. Lots to see and do in the immediate area. Very reasonable prices on everything. If you want to spend a couple nights in the city I would highly recommend this hotel.

In the plaza street hawkers and wannabe tour guides don't want to leave you alone but this has nothing to do with this great hotel.

The location is hard to beat. Right in front of the cathedral and the start/finish of calle Conde. It is near everywhere. Shopping, restaurants and plaza Espana with it posher cafes is within short walking distance. The cafe restaurant is also quite decent. The reception staff is very friendly.

Quite overpriced for level of quality offered although you will not find quality everywhere in the DR apart maybe from very high priced resorts. The breakfast offered did not say much. Orange juice and marmelade that had not ever seen any fruit in their lives. No elevator.

Stayed here for 3 nights to have a trip in Santo Domingo It is a great hotel with the best possible location in Zona Colonial. From the balcony is a stunning view on the main street and Plaza Colon You can start to experience a wonderful feeling of being in the first Colonial city, Cathedrals, museums, palace of Colon and Plazas are very close. Hotel restaurant is great too, nice food, quick and great service And for that price i think it's the best what you can find in Santo Domingo! We absolutely loved that hotel!

a very knowledgeable staff; very clean facilities. I felt very safe, too. The location is EXCELLENT and the staff are very nice and from the country, so they can tell you what's what. I met a lot of people from all over the world hanging out in the cafe down on the first floor, just be ready to wait to be served, but, it's good practice to start to wind down. FREE WIFI

A little pricey for the fact the accommodations are basic; no shampoo or toiletries in the room, for example, and no breakfast.

The location was fantastic. It was easy to visit the colonial city from that spot.

It was a little noisy at night (street noise).

The hotel was great. It has a fantastic location, on the corner of the main square of the old city. We very much enjoyed our room with a balcony overlooking the square, where we could see everyone come and go. We also loved coming downstairs for breakfast or dinner at the cafe/restaurant on the ground floor. The hotel staff were very helpful with any and all our various queries or desires. If we return to Santo Domingo, we would absolutely choose the Conde de Peñalba again.

The staff was really friendly and did all their best to help us.

The noise coming from a nearby club/bar the first night we were there.... Luckily it happened only once, but the music was so loud untill 3 am!!!

The corner rooms have a great balcony with wonderful view over the city.

No elevator. The door to the interconnecting room makes it a little noisy.

I loved this hotel, the location was perfect right in the center of the Colonial city, in front of a Park and the Beautiful cathedral. The balcony overlooking the park was fantastic. The staff was wonderful, the hotel room was very spacious and clean. The price was very budget friendly. I will definitely stay there again in my next trip.

The shower head was not powerful but we spoked to the manager and he showed us the new one they were ready to install.

The best location in Zone Colonial. Authentic and right in the middle of typical latino life. Dynamic, Noisy, Crowded. If you like that and want to enjoy Dominican life, go!! We had a very nice corner big room with terrace.

All was good. Personnel friendly and always smiling.

It's very close to the city's main attraction, the Catedral Primada de America. It has a decent restaurant on the main floor, and the hotel located at the top of Conde avenue, the pedestrian walkway in the colonial zone. It does have free and fast wifi.

There isn't an elevator. If you want a room with a view, you may have to walk up four flights. The staff is friendly, but try to know a few key phrases in Spanish. The rooms are very small.
