Stayed at the Don Antonio in October 2014 and had a Blast! Obe the day shift supervisor was so helpful. I had a bad experience before arriving at the hotel with a motor coach taking me for a financial ride(get all prices upfront), Obe gave me all the do's and don'ts upon checking in about everything in the area. I,ve already booked another trip to the Don Antonio for April 2015 this time for 5 more days than last visit.
The hotel had a pool. The rooms were old but clean.
The staff was notvery competent. The tv didn't work.
The beach. Playa Sosua is amazing! Many little shops and food right next to a beach, more locals than tourists, very very cheap comparing to Punta Cana! Food is wonderful and water is still and clear! Hotel is 7min walk to the beach. Metro bus stops next to the hotel.
Hotel is next to busy road and a gasoline station, noise at night non stop. Hotel stuff is not very friendly, they don’t give you any advice, when I asked how much is motoconcho to go to beach they said 50pesos per person, it’s actually 25 pesos. When I asked where the bus to Puerto Plata stops they told me there is no bus and to take a taxi. There is a bus stopping next to the hotel for 30 pesos to Puerto Plata. The security guide does nothing, he is overweight and sleeps all the time, why they don't hire a young sporty man?!
Good location, walk to everything(beach, restaurants, bus transport, shops), inexpensive--but had great pool and restaurant that similar priced hotels did not have. Had multi-language management on duty-always a plus! Rooms clean, water hot and AC cold.
No plug at all in bathroom for using hair items. Could have used a bench for suitcase support. Lack of that meant constant lifting suitcase bed-to floor, or bending down to suitcase on the floor. Simple thing--easy fix.
Great Staff! They were very laid back and let us enjoy our stay. The location was prime right across the street from all the clubs.
the Security guard wasn't the best
The location was very good. I would stay there again.Very good staff, very helful
I liked the staf, especialy Sonia, who also decoratet my room for my birthday. Many thanks for Sonia.
I didn`t like the price, very small room, whithout proper windows, basement room. High price, and l think l don`t will recomend this hotel. Before this time, a friend of mine told them to lower price, or we look for an another hotel. They did.
Great place to stay and it's walking distance to everything. The icing on the cake was the great bar and restaurant. Allan made one of the best mojitos I have ever had.
Close to the beach and to the main street where are all the restaurants and bars.
Excellent restaurant with really good food at a decent price. As close as you can possibly be to all the action. Clean, basic, accommodations. 5-7 minute walk to the beach.
Not very insulated from the booming music coming from the clubs a few meters away. TV in room is the smallest I have ever seen and is terrible but I didn't go to DR to watch TV. Bed is not very comfortable, but it is not worse than the 4 star hotels in have stayed at.
I liked everything about this hotel. It is right in the heart of everything. The rooms were vry clean and comfortable. Obe was more than accomodating with all my requests and processing my check in. Alan has a great restaurant and bar onsite and took care of me every day. Overall my experience was quite enjoyable. I would highly reccomend this hotel. Great value & service.
